You'd probably find the Ifor Williams trailer would take twice that if you could fit it! top kit those trailers!
  2. Nice one! Found it cheers! you have to peel the padding off!
  3. I've recently bought a Treemotion harness and I'm delighted with it but where is the unit's serial number hidden?! there's a bunch of numbers on the bag it came in but surely it's printed on the harness itself somewhere?! any pointers would be handy! Sam!
  4. I HATE LADDERS TOO!! Rope/Harness and I'm happy!
  5. Hello Lendahand: I was interested in you offer of a job for a climber in the North Suffolk Area. I am a fairly seasoned Arborist - having studied for two years at Otley college and roughly 5-6 years experience in the industry. I have a national certificate in arboriculture and an NPTC 30,31,38 & 39 certificates. I have also had some healthy experiance with MEWPs and Cranes too along with very good customer and collegue relations having been a team leader for the past two years! I would love to hear from yourselves if possible!

    Many thanks, Sam Wild

  6. By the time you've done a really thorough crown clean - removed dead/dying/diseased branches, rubbers, crossers, deformed branches those branches growing in odd directions or over-extending - then any thinning required to meet specification is usually minimal - especially with domestic customers.
  7. My old climbing buddy used to keep his Silky saw on a retracting Ski pass holder - using it one day, the saw slipped in his hand, the ski pass pulled it backwards and the saw cut a deep gash on the inside of each of his fingers!
  8. When you've felled a tree through a telephone line, totalled a shed/greenhouse/car with a big log, fallen out of a few trees, or put something expensive through the chipper then you can call your self an Arborist :laugh1:
  9. Guys! where can I get hold of/download a manual for the Schliesing 220MX (and also the turntable version). I basically need a document which tells me things like grease nipple locations, Blade clearence, bolt torques, service intervals, Oil/Hydro/Coolant grades and all that techy stuff so I can confidently look after the chippers at work. As usuall any help would be grand!
  10. We use Schliesing 220's at work which have adjustable roller speeds - with a good anvill and sharp blades my and the driver fill the truck up with chip ranging in size from grains of rice to house bricks!! Moocho Fun!
  11. Many of the chippers in the fleet I work with have had Chevron-shaped feed rollers fitted when the old ones wore out - they feed like a dream even when they're battered up! grabbing big bits with ease and pushing bunches of brash and twigs into the centre of the rollers so stuff chips smoothly!
  12. I love working with this stuff and have had some fun climbs whilst installing Cobra braces. I would love to really streamline my technique though to save time and look more pro! 1: What, In your opinions have you found is the best way of cutting through the stuff? Bearing in mind you're in the tree at the time! 2: What's the best way of storing and organising the cables ready for installing? Do you carry the bundle into the tree, cut off the approximate length of feed it up from the ground? What kind or containers do you store the Cobra components in? 3: How do you carry up the tools and bits/pieces needed for installing a Cobra brace? bags? tool belts? slings? Any ideas and suggestions would be great! We're currently trying to work out the most efficient and slick method of handling Cobra Bracing
  13. So what is that you're firing down there?!

    Practical Jokes

If working with a new climber, wait till they've got all their gear on, clipped onto rope, ready to go, then remind them the spikes go on the inside of their legs. (Unfortunately I put my spikes on back to front loads when I was training - still do now!!)
  15. "FIRE IN THE HOLE" when you're felling off a stem!
  16. I think i'd be more likely to kick 10 bells outta someone for trying to nick my takaway when I'm pissed than if someone nicked my equipment when i was sober. Main reason being my curry/kebab isn't insured!!! :001_tongue:
  17. I've seen a couple of birches growing into odd shapes when they've got to fight throught other stuff like leyland hedges etc. so when you cut the rest away you get a funny stem. But that one's a corker!!
  18. Coz I was crap at everything else I tried!!! Tried tree climbing - loved it - never looked back!!!
  19. Here Here! Also, Respect is earned, not demanded!! If you've come up from the factory floor you'll have the support of the people you met on the way up when you're a tree officer!
  20. Or is it a partially dismantled tree waiting to be chogged down and some kids or the climber larking about? I know i've messed about on stuff when taking things down!
  21. Nope - shows good planning! However, I accidentally swung in off a branch when dismantling and busted my ribs on a peg! As a result i clean up the tree as i go - no pegs for me! If i need a foot-hold i leave the whole branch on till I no longer need it - then knock it off in a 1er
