  1. I fill straight from the petrol pump so as to get an accurate measure of fuel. Mine have never stuck open! I find turning the nozzles inside when i'm done using them stops them sticking (guess the oil gets in the slidey bits). Wheras the stihl cans my boss uses always stick. they also don't fit very well in husky fuel openings and tend to catch, splatting fuel everywhere!
  2. We'll have to get onto RAF Wattisham (I think that's where they come from!) see if we can get a ride marine style clipped onto the sides!! You'll have to stop shouting at 'em tho!
  3. Bottom line is: If it looks like a bargain it ain't and if it's brand new then it's probably nicked?!!!

Have I missed something? I'm intrigued!
  5. Sounds dangerous!!! P.S. Cheers for the info Ficus!!
  6. Cerne you should've thumbed a lift off of that apache circling overhead!!
  7. Who would you approach to get info/training for hand signaling then?!
  8. Anyone had a look at their folding helmet?! nice idea - would fit lovely in the top of my kit bag! Would get one as a spare if the price was right - I'm forever leaving my Vertex places!
  9. I'd love to do my own picklers but I don't know where to start! can someone give me a good recipe?!
  10. Must be a bit of a pain in the bum changing out bars/chains all the time? what about using a smaller saw for limbing and leave the big gun set up?
  11. I've got a husq 357XP and a combination of 15" bar and .325 pitch chain and it's loverley!! wanna try it with an 8 tooth sprocket too - recon it could be pretty good combo given the finer chain pitch.
  12. I had a Marlow gecko to start with 2 years ago - was really bouncy but coz i was new to climbing I thought it was the tree moving!! I got used to the movement and carried on using it untill about 6 months ago when I tried Yale XTC Plus - what a difference! However I haven't noticed any mantle slippage or milking - is that a long term consequence?
  13. I think you can get a MS192T from suppliers on the continent and happily use them in the UK because they are CE marked. I'd like to get hold of one for the potential fuel economy when doing light work.
  14. Well it's getting near christmas - sure theres a chipolata sausage somewhere!
  15. I normally tuck a plastic wedge in just before I finish off the cut
  16. He blagged it of someone at the APF show - was a display model I think
  17. Looking on Husqvarna's International website and came across this saw. It's a 45cc version of their 338XPT - Sounds awsome! Does anyone know where i could get hold of one? Also, compared to the standard 338XPT, why does the bigger 'California' appear to have lower power output?
  18. My boss has a stein helmet - it looks as though the rivits which hold the head cradle inside are already wearing loose after a couple of months - might be my mob-handed boss but thought it was worth a mention.
  19. Well done fella!! You still comin climbing with us at college or off out to the wide world?
  20. I've got a smallish Fig. 8 robbed out of my rock climbing gear - usually take it up tall things as a rule. Clip under my hitch and away I go - quite often upside down to scare the boss!!
  21. "Bulldog licking piss off a thistle" is one of the many I heard working in pubs as a kid!!
  22. Lovely subtle job! great to see such Sympathetic, Dignified care of trees!! too many chainsaw thrashers out there!! By the way, how much, in percent would you say that was?
  23. Which ever Brand you go for, go for a bit of a bigger size to guarantee a long working life and labour the saw less. I love my Husq saws for work on the ground! got a Stihl top handle for the tree work coz Husqvarna still need to work on the design of their top handles. Lots of support for the MS260 from Stihl. good all rounder - nice and light too if your cutting/felling all day! Colleges like then coz theyre robust and low maintenance. I know the ones at Otley stand up to loads of punishment!
  24. The train wrecks are a bit shocking!!!
