  1. Yeah really sorry mate I was getting rid of them because I'd got some other bits but wasn't happy with how the new stuff ran!
  2. I need to try the Zig zag again - used to have one at a place I worked at a few years ago but we ran them on 1/2" rope which didn't really work too well. Then they got taken off us as it was around the time they were having problems with the links breaking!
  3. I like the look of these! What length eye/eye sling do you need? I've just ordered an 8mm/76cm ocean polyester eye/eye to see if that snugs up the system but I'll deffo try these cheers!
  4. Sorry Guys but I think I'm going to keep these items now!
  5. You'll end up upside down coz your feet will go faster than the rest of you!
  6. Which foot is the Velox designed to go on? What do people find most convenient/effective?
  7. So I've got a few bits of kit here I'm looking to shift! All nearly brand new - came from my first venture into SRT but now I've ordered some different gear. If anyone's interested message me and make me an offer! I was thinking somewhere about £20 for each ascender but the other stuff?... well enough to cover postage plus a beer maybe would be great! Many thanks From Sam!
  8. Works really nicely below DRT too - just twice the peddling!
  9. Bulldog bone?
  10. Anyone know if ART have any plans for a device specifically for SRT? I love their gear and would love to keep using their stuff as I move on to SRT!
  11. Ok so I usually use a spiderjack 2.1 for DRT and I love it! Particularly the fact that there is absolutely no lag when you sit back into it. So I'd like to know what the best mechanical would be for SRT to achieve the same effect? I've tried using a VT and rope wrench but want to eliminate that little drop when you sit back!
  12. I've not long ago bought the ropeguide twinline and I find it to be a really versatile device. It's not just useful for SRT/DRT but there are a couple more bonuses it has. Firstly, either with the splice anchor or with a long rope you can set the device with a large amount of slack so that it "follows" you round the anchor point - great for overall reductions where you're all over the crown! One of the main reasons I got it though was because you can choke it around large stem sections without any branches etc. - great for chogging down whilst keeping a working DRT system as a backup.
  13. They've come a long way since the old bouncy Gecko and Salamander models! Might as well have climbed on a bungee rope!
  14. Tel you what - I've just tried my Spiderjack with some Marlow Vega 11.7mm. works really well - drops through like water down a plughole! - and the feel of the brake on the rope is just right!
  15. Smells good but does anyone else get a headache working with Bay?
  16. I knew there was something! I though I was going mad for a minute! was there ever a Stihl equivalent?
  17. Hey All! Hope you've had a great Christmas! I was just thinking about gear and I suddenly remembered that years ago you could get a little bolt-on gadgie which would add an anchor point to a standard saw in much the same way as a top-handle. Does anybody remember these and can you still get hold of them?! Happy new year to all! Sam
  18. I'm finding I'm doing much more work with a big silky rather than small or battery top handles now. Goes hand in hand with much lighter, modern climbing gear and helmets!
  19. The foam insert is made of two types of plastic. The expanded Polypropylene down the sides and front is supposed to be more flexible and durable with an expanded polystyrene centre on top to deform and absorb impact. Seems to be along the same theme as the Alveo vent so if you're used to wearing the the polystyrene insert on top of your head you should be fine. As mentioned above, I wear a Boreo with earplugs and specs when I'm doing less heavy duty work - I can't stand mesh visors any more!! I like the close hugging design - I'm forever banging my Vertex on branches coz of the height it adds to my head!!
  20. It can only take an unforseen edge or stub to severely damage a rope even the strongest rope under tension! Two ropes rubbing over each other (I.E. rigging rope over the lifeline!!) can do it!!
  21. If you can shorten the bridge in your harness to lower the attachment point and then slightly increase the length of your friction hitch you will find that you get a longer, smoother pull on the thrust-up and a more natural, comfortable reach when Limb walking. It's all about fiddling about with the fit of your gear in till it works best for you! Don't be tempted to move on from a piece of equipment in till you've really explored it's potential - You may end up going round in circles!
  22. Have you checked the impulse pipe? If I have a saw running sluggish I get a leakdown test done and almost every time it's a tiny hole/split in the impulse tube - especially with top handles!
  23. Got a 12" light bar for a 200/201T going if anybody's interested? Pretty good nick - not used all that much. Let me know!
  24. You got a fuel tank for a stihl 020T in all that by any chance?!
  25. Remember speed and torque are inversely proportional. I'll be keen to hear whether you gain speed without sacrificing too much power from your saw. If it works I'll do the same with my 261!
