  1. I've recently just bought my first chipper from a company called Arborcut, based near Stockbridge in Hampshire. I bought a Timberwolf TW 150 and I'm delighted with it! I found it really difficult to find a decent supplier of chippers so I thought I'd let you know about them. The machine I purchased has been reconditioned and not only looks superb it flies through the wood. The after sales service has been spot on too. I often read about bad experiences on here so it's nice to share a good one.
  2. Hi there Guys. Anyone ever used a Toyota Dyna SWB 300 for arb related work? And if so what are they like? Any advice would be gratefully received. Cheers Will
  3. Wow! Thanks for all the replies fellas. This is really helpful stuff. Lots to take in here! There certainly a mix of opinions on Timberwolfs. I reason the tw125 caught my eye was the size. As I'll be starting a new business I will be working on my own for lots of smaller jobs (hedgework, fruit trees, non climbing stuff) so having a machine I can move around easily on my own is v important to me. I've also had lots of experience with tw150s and they seem to be good machines (I prefer them to Jensens, vermeers, tunnisens). The chap at Arborcut also has a Schiesling Mx105. This is a similar sized petrol machine with a honda engine. Does anyonme know much about these chippers? Thanks again for all the help, If i could buy you all a beer I would.
  4. Hi Guys! I'm just about to buy myself a little chipper for my weekend work and with the hope of setting up a little business next year. I've just had a chat with a guy called Robert from Arborcut who has a fully reconditioned Timberwolf TW 125 with a diesel engine for sale. Has anyone had any experience with these machines or this company? Any advice would be massively appreciated Cheers Will

  6. Hello Peeps! I've been loving climbing on my mates old version 1 spiderjack, so I thought it's time to get my own. I picked up the new model with the dyneema kit which is lovely for fast change overs but i've found the performance of the Sj is not quite as nice as the old one i was using before. This may be down to the rope selection???? Has anyone got any recommendations for good Sj rope paring? I think the firmer the better will help with the self tending function that I love so much. All the best folks Will T
  7. Hello chaps! Was wondering if anyone could help me out. I'm pretty new to climbing and I'm slowly getting my set up configured how I like it. I've been mostly using a blakes hitch but I want to get a little pulley behind it so I can adjust it with one hand. Slack tending I think you call it? How do you go about installing a pulley in your system and is it effective with a Blakes Hitch? I was gunna get a DMM Pinto pulley and have it clipped into a DMM oval karibeaner with the eye splices from my blakes and my climbing line attached to the same karibeaner. Is this possible? Sorry to bore you fellas with shop talk but it'd be great if anyone has any thoughts. All the best Will
  8. I did the same thing mate. Stuck mine into the radial nerve in my wrist and punctured a vein too. Right bloody mess it was. Had to take a couple of week off and I've got a lovely S shaped scar to remind me to be more careful in future. I do love my Silky though, just gotta treat it with some respect.
  9. Cheers for the advice fellas. It's been great fun trying the various knot set ups on here. Even though I can't use a chain saw up there yet, it's still a lovely place to be just hanging out of a tree. Done a couple of small jobs, dead wooding oaks with me silky and I reckon the Blakes Hitch will work well for me, but definitely gunna keep experimenting. Take care Will
  10. Hello guys n girls. This is my first post up here, so forgive me if it sounds like a daft question. But what kind of friction set ups do you all favour for climbing? I'm off to Merrist Wood in September to get all my papers, but in the mean time I've been practicing with a prussik knot (under supervision of course). I think it's an amazing system, but having browsed the knot guide on here I can see there are loads of options. What do you prefer? Thanks Will
