Nepal Extremes are a bit over the top for UK use. Both my wife and me have them, but I've only used them once in the UK... and that was for actual ice climbing. I'd say Mantas are about the best 4 season boot for UK use and a mate of mine regularly wears his in the Alps for some pretty serious climbing.

We used to joke that helicopters don't actually fly.... they're just so ugly that the ground repels them. That's the best evidence I've seen! Camera man was pretty good too.

Yes, I heard about those yesterday. A lot of my ice climbing gear is BD, but I've never really liked their carabiners. That looks very easy to use with gloved hands and probably just as snow/ice proof as a standard screwgate or twistlock.

I'd go for a 390XP over a 395XP. It costs less, weighs less (7.1kgs vs 7.9kgs) but is only a fraction less powerful (6.5hp vs 6.6hp). Never run a 395 mind you, so a might be talking a load of rubbish

Milled some oak today with a 460 and it is a very strong saw and it just has the factory dual port muffler. I have 2 Husky 372s, one of which is a 75cc XPW version and I couldn't say which one I like better. Huskys seem to feel better in your hands, but i think the 460 pulls marginally better. Never used a 576 though. Stihl have a new filter out called the HD 2 which should sort that problem out.

I'm pretty sure that a manufactuer cannot specify a particular brand of oil for their product, only a specification. If you look in the handbook it will specify the oil requirement. As long as you use an oil that meets this standard, they cannot refuse any subsequent warrantee claims.

Husky keep bring out these other saws like the 575 and 576, but they keep on making the 372 because it is one of the best saws they've ever made.

Don't be too quick to discount the Husky 346XP. Better air filtration, better AV and a lot nicer to handle compared to the 260
