  1. Fear not. From what I've heard the new one won't let you down and apart from a few parts it's the same as the 460 which is a good thing.
  2. Yes, it has been an odd year so far. Extreme cold early on, quiet hurricane season so far, India's SW monsoon is running late and now it looks like El Niño's back.
  3. Find the max rpm with a clean air filter, then richen it up so the rev's drop 50-100.
  4. I buy strips of patches and vulcanising solution from a bike shop and I find now that you really need to let the glue almost dry before applying the patch. Then leave the paper or foil backing in place until the glue has cured properly or the edges will start to come unstuck.
  5. I claimed this back a few years ago. Can't remember what I got but I was nothing like the figures quoted on Moneysavingexpert, but it's better off in my pocket than HMRC's or whatever they're called now. Here's what I wrote: I am supplied with logo bearing uniform by my employer to wear and launder, and believe I may be eligible to receive a personal tax allowance to compensate me for the costs involved. Please be kind enough to review my current tax code and amend it accordingly if eligible. I would also be grateful if this could be backdated for the maximum period as I have been in my current position with my present employer since (date)
  6. Here are some pictures:
  7. I've done about 220 and the wife's done about 150, but we're not getting them done fast anymore. Cheap flights and good exchange rates made North America our holiday spot for a good few years. When I met my wife she'd never waled up a hill, but now she's happy climbing frozen waterfalls in Canada when it's -25C. We started off on things like Beinn an Dothaidh and Beinn Dorain from Bridge of Orchy or Buachaille Etive Beag. You get 2 Munros for both and they are reasonable short days with easy route finding and food available at the starting point. Ben Vorlich and Ben Vane from Inveruglas are also good easyish ones. My own favorite area is the "Great Wilderness" by Poolewe. I spend a week up there in December and always have a big day there, usuallly alone around the shortest day. The views from Beinn Arigh Charr (a Corbett) are amazing.
  8. Yes.. looks like it, amazing results. What set up are you using?
  9. Fair play to the guy for trying to explain everything at the end for 45 minutes. I prefer it when they try and speed off hiding their faces. Much more entertaining
  10. Wouldn't you notice that you were putting 30% more fuel in the vehicle to fill the tank.
  11. Don't have the original part numbers, but these are the new part numbers I bought 1122 790 3603 WRAP HANDLE 1122 790 9102 HAND GUARD 9074 478 4435 (X 2) PAN HEAD SCREW 6X19 9074 478 4675 PAN HEAD SCREW 6X32.5 No reason why these wouldn't fit a new 660 or is 3603 not available at all any more? I ordered the screws, but I do seem to remeber that you don't actually need them to swap the bars.
  12. I had to on my 660 from 2008. Ended up costing quite a lot even though I got the parts from Madsen's Saw Shop in the US.
  13. You might call it settled, but where I am I'd call it anticyclonic gloom
  14. I have a Husky 345 too and really like it. They do 2 versions... one is a "brushcutter" and the other is a "clearing saw". They've brought out a bigger 355 now. You'd have to check Husky's website or visit a dealer to figure out the differences.
  15. Idiot #1 didn't look very different to idiot #2
  16. It's worth a visit if you are in the area and I suppose it would make a good introduction for a beginner albeit on steep ice.
  17. Was that the chain that came with the saw? Just asking because .050"/1.3mm is not the usual size on the 346 here or in the USA, so check the numbers on the bar to make sure it is a .0502/1.3mm bar too.
  18. Yes they are very good. When using a flat file to dress the rails you can tell that the metal is a lot harder. Are they worth the money? Not sure, but if you don't mind paying then you will get arguably the best bar out there.
  19. These programmes always have a mad bloke on them and are much better for it.
  20. I'm trying very hard to follow this and although I can see the trough it just looks like it turns into a very weak area of low pressure (1036mb.. I gues in a high of 1060+ that is low), but remains weak and static Then the current high/ridge extending down from scandanavia just sort of splits forming what looks to me like an Azores high with further embedded highs over Denmark and Northern Finland and the main high where it's always been over Russia. But remeber I'm punching well above my weight here because when I was training to be a pilot climatology was explained to me by an old RAF guy. "High pressure over the oceans and high pressure over the continents during their winter", and that was it
  21. Total garbage. I also turned it off after 5 mins. Atleast the people in Ice Road Truckers are interesting and I'm not thinking about Lisa. Well I am now obviously
  22. Anyone use the Portek Logmaster that FR Jones sell? It's expensive but no more than the Stihl Smart holder more expensive one.
  23. Thanks for the explaination. I think I can see shortwave you refer to, but it's beyond me to understand its significance.
  24. Current forcast pressure charts for 12:00 UTC on the 2nd do show a high forming over Greenland, with another high to the north of Norway. This appeared to me to following your scrip very nicely?
  25. I've tried just about every chain from round ground round chisel full comp, to square ground sqare chisel semi skip and the chain I use most now is Oregon LGX. It's round ground full chisel chain and is not as aggresive as Stihl's RSC, but I like it. Oregon LPX has the same cutter but a bumper tie strap I think.
