  1. Just re-read my post above and I think it may appear flippant. It wasn't meant to be, so I apologise now if it did. I realise from your other posts that you are knowledgeable on this subject and would really like to hear your views on how a vehcile can have certain weights stamped onto the VIN plate which can be anything other than correct?
  2. So let me get this stright.... You are saying that you ignore the weights stamped into the vehicle by the manufacturer and go by what's in the showroom brochures. Didn't realise that's how it worked.
  3. I bought some Stihl chains from Chainsdirect last week. Arrived the next day. Outstanding service.
  4. Try FR Jones or a mate got one from World of Power. Don't forget the 2 clamps if you want to bench mount without holes.
  5. Gransfors are the best without doubt, but Fiskars are worth a mention if you're trying to keep the cost down.
  6. Silkolene PRO2 SX is about best there is me thinks Castrol Power 1 TTS is another good one. Tried this in old saw one and it was much freer reving.
  7. Exactly.... the biggest problem with the 576 is that it's not a 372. There will be a 372 X-torq out soon I'm sure because it is already out in the States. People seem to like it too and 372 die hards are a tough crowd to please.
  8. Yes, I'm sure it is. I know a few people who've had diesel pump failures costing them a lot of money. Mybe the extra lubrication would have helped...??? Interested to hear the info you have....
  9. I've read about the benefits too, but I think you'd need to be very brave to try it in any modern diesel engine. Read a lot of good things about Miller's Diesel Power Sport 4, but it doesnt appear on their website any more.

Wow, that must me some saw!!! Wonder how long it will be before we get the X-torq 372s.
  11. The MK6 Hilux double cabs can actually tow 2,800 KGS. The brochures are incorrect, but if you look at under bonnet, you'll see that they can tow 2,800 KGS
  12. Checkout Camera Price Buster - UKs cheapest camera gear Really is a fantastic tool for finding the best deals.
  13. National Trust | Events | Find an event Not brilliant, but like you said there's not much info about it
  14. BFG mud terrains are not true winter tyres. A true winter tyre will have the "snowflake on the mountain" symbol and be made of special rubber compound and tread pattern to grip in cold conditions. M+S approval (mud and snow) is perhaps more suitable and I dare say the BFGs will have this approval, but they are really a mud tyre and not well suited to your average conditions in the UK. If you need a mud tyre the the BFG MT is about the best you can get, but their all terrains might be a better all round tyre. If you want a full winter tyre then Conti 4x4 WinterContact are excellent.
  15. I've got one of the Roll'n'lock/Mountain Industries tonneaus on my truck. It's well made and stong enough, but the extra side tracks and roller drum do take up a lot of room. If it's only for saws then it's fine. It's reasonably secure too, but I'm sure a determined thief with a scrwedriver would get in very quickly. Despite the claims, they are not very weather proof at all and icy conditions can cause the locks to freeze up. If I were buying again I'd probably spend more and get the Armadillo, but these small problems may well be present on that too. Shop Suzuki Nissan Navara D23 RollnLock Manual Retractable Truck Bed Cover | Formula4 Hope this helps....
  16. I think Al nailed it.... just a marketing ploy for certain markets. Stihl don't list a DP muffler for the 440. It's actually the 460 cover that happens to fit.
  17. You're right. It's not really on and I wouldn't do it. Think most people would view breaking into a vehicle and stealing a saw in a slightly different league.
  18. Aspen fuel won't damage the saw, but changing over might dislodge any carbon deposits that might have formed from burning mineral oils. I run my strimmer and hedge trimmer on it, but use regular fuel mix in the saws.
  19. This from the Ifor Williams website might ne helpful.... http://www.iwt.co.uk/brochures/ltt.pdf
  20. Think i saw this place somewhere on this forum: http://www.storesacksystems.co.uk/products.html
  21. Yes it was. Quarter tip with an S1 mount... picked it up in Canada a few weeks ago. Looks like a 0.325 chain will run round it, but I'm trying to find a 1/4 inch sprocket to go on a Stihl 260.
  22. Excellent work. I've just bought a carving bar and when I get hold of a chain and sprocket I'm gonna give it a go. Not sure I'll be posting any pics just yet though
  23. I really just "top" it for the first cut and make sure it's not going to be frosty that night. Did mine on Monday and it's showing signs of growing already.
  24. Yeah, from what I've read about Redline oils I'm sure it's excellent. How much do they charge for that? I've stuck with Castrol because it's easily available.
  25. Castol Power 1 TTS Racing 2T fully synthetic is about the best you can get.
