  2. Deffo more than £20 per hour , strimmers/clearing saws work hard and even new kit breaks down . Have heared the same about the fc and low rates and great expectations.
  3. Blake training .
  4. You would get a new pair or a different style if you talk to Arbortec. That is true they did for me
  5. All this talk of the industry being saturated surprises me , yes there is too many doing it for naff all but when I post ads on here I seldom get a response other than inexperienced lads looking for 150 a day. I know of one local guy been operating for years mentioned he might not bother to advertise tree surgery anymore for the lack of climbers available.
  6. It's hard and you are expected to work wonders when subbing to landscape / poor tree firms who know very little on tree work and how it's actually done , Tim that is one of the best pionts I have heard in ages
  7. Made me wonder , my stihl spout seems to fit in fuel hole , or maybe its not a stihl filler , not an orange and green one though .
  8. Done plenty with mine and more than happy with it . Dunno what you mean about the spout all you have to do is hold it at right angles to saw . All in all good so far.
  9. CSCS groundie or climber next week oxford , gang considered
  10. Tip site for chip near oxford wanted with free logs , thanks:001_smile:
  11. Would not worry about it , I did a load of gas line tree work and we had fires in top of the gas line all of the time , it was permitted by grid no worries.
  12. Is there a difference between using a sub contractor and freelance arborist sub contracting a job seems to me you give the job to someone else make a bit of profit with a bit of luck and move on , a freelance arborist will turn up at your yard or on site do what is asked of him and no obligations to him in any way , what does insurance say about this.
  13. Have to say a couple of days on the saw feels crisp and comfy to use being well balanced with good grip . All round capable saw
  14. Might need a mechanic if your big hens gone
  15. Unless you have allready registered I think you will have to take the new units which wont be too much different
  16. Got mine today , perfect timing my 200 scored a piston and rang the dealer was gonna go down the 201 route but he said the 540 had just come in so , let you know in a few days.
  17. Need an extra pair of hands tomorow , the job is near south molton but have a van leaving Taunton in the morning , ideally a climber or experienced groundie this work is roadside , due to an increase in work load this could lead to more work.
  18. Why cant you charge an arborist rate ,
  19. Any subbie climbers about for a job next week , weather dependant really the customer has a nice lawn dont want to be trashing it . Competent climber with good rigging skills , pm me
  20. Craig that is about the best solution I have heard. And also I think it is more of a standard setting course than doing all your tickets again , I believe there is no test . I am sure everyone keeps up with new practices and leglislation but there must some who dont so how do you seperate them from the rest.
  21. Good work I think taht every groundie should watch that lowering as a example to learn what is meant by LET IT FLIPPING RUN !
  22. I think he has a website pen island.com
  23. Knickers twisted for no reason at all then:lol:
  24. Fine sure ,6k a bit much really but if this guy really wanted it down what about getting a subbie in (and a lad with cs38 of course:glare:) thats whats been going on with landscapers for years I expect he had the capability to clear it all up and the tree was just one part of a bigger job.. Type of work bread and butter for subbies I am sure
