  1. i used not to bother with a lanyard so much, then a while back there was a similar thread and i was surprised by how many people said they always used one when cutting, so started using it more and now all the time, not much extra time for a lot of extra benefit if something goes pear shaped, thanks arbtalk for helping me climb safer. carl
  2. fair play that was a tough and tricky job, shame to lose money on it and not so cool to have a member of staff hurt.
  3. a tip for anyone who repairs the own trousers is " braided fishing line" its super tough and the stitches never break. carl

  6. my old 1.9 berlingo has been reliable, my newer kangoo wasn't the diesel pump went and would of cost thousends to fix so sold it at a massive loss, did like it until that happened mind! carl

  10. sounds scary, glad she,s ok. not sure of the time frame on the events but sounds like the groundy acted pretty swiftly. one thing is would that hitch not release if it hit a branch on the way up?? could it be the anchor was not as strong as it should of been? i like the idea of the alpine butterfly above your base tie although i cant help thinking that a bulky knot could easily get stuck in a fork causing the casualty become badly stuck! i guess a mega long rope would be ideal. all the best for your recovery. carl

    Sleeper bridge

    ive found sleepers can get very slippery over time, so might need metal mesh or the like to make it safe.
  12. zig zag smoother than a lockjack but might break, lockjack not as smooth as zigzag but wont break. i use a lockjack, it does get smoother as you get used to it, not tried a spiderj tho. try and blag a go on different systems to have a work climb on.

  14. i got a sthil br350, and am pleased with it, not loads more than the handheld bg86 but way more umph and nicer to use for long periods of time, actually find its one of the most usefull tools doing garden work. carl
  15. can you bypass the antistress? can on our chipper so could narrow it down. working on a slope? could cause those symptoms i recon. hope you get it sorted.
  16. i checked the splines on the top and there fine, and the bottom roller splines have been replaced so are ok, there does seem to be some play in the top feed roller bearing , but would not think it enough to stop it going round? thanks carl

  18. at work we have a pto cm 220 that has a problems with the top feed roller, basicly it is struggling and sometimes stopping under load ie big bunch leyland. i tried to swap the top and bottom hyd motors around but couldn't because of work done on the botton roller meant top motor spline didnt quiet fit. so anything i could check???? thanks carl

  20. i have the carbon geckos and they just stick to your feet and you dont even notice them, so guess the ali ones are similar.

  25. some of them are in killarney national park i think, amazing trees, amazing spot.
