  4. good question, often thought how much was that lump, but without a pricey dynometer in the rigging system its all a bit guess work.
  5. i think glazing will reduce its strength ( dont know by how much to be honest) also when you get into long lengths of large diameter stuff can be pricey. for me if i glazed up a rope and told the boss it wasnt a biggy n to get some more he wouldnt be too chuffed! i know ive tried it...
  6. harder to judge the wraps on the bollard if ones using different or multiple natural forks. not saying iam against natural forking but on a take down that was mostly rigged i would probably opt for pulleys. carl
  7. for us it would be very much tree dependent, from the simple old line over a fork with a crab on the end up to a mega bollard, pulleys, 19mm rope , sometimes two lowering systems. i think too much complicated gear can slow things up as can not enough on bigger trees. i would of thought natural crotching big bits day in day out would trash a rope pretty quick? carl
  8. quick question folks why do some people care so passionately about what saw other people are using???? as long as the one im using is doing its job thats all i really care about!( fun reading tho i will admit

  15. on this subject i reckon the pantin foot assecnder has to be one of the best easy to use gizmos that dosent cost the earth and can really make climbing easier and its versatile ie drt, srt, with spikes too. carl
  16. id rate the snickers super comfy and light.

  23. id say if were honest we all started out blunting saw way more than necessary and then doing a crappy job on the sharpening, then start to realize what an ass sharpening is and learn how best to avoid it. carl
  24. intresting idea hadnt really thought of it like that, but obviously its the price that puts me off.
  25. thats what i mean i guess reductions etc to stop total failure of the tree would count
