  1. i find single rope a bit odd as i know it makes sense and is better in many ways but just seem to prefer the feel of drt, so mainly use that so then if i do use srt it feels even stranger!! using a lockjack and rope wrench so probably not the best, did try the bulldog bone and that seemed pretty good but cant justify more gear will follow this thread and try and get back into srt. carl
  2. great vid, love the blend of technical gear and rigging and a simple get the job done approach i think the system is good and iam sure one could source the hardware and splice onto a rope of your choice if you wished. carl
  3. i was assuming it had undergone tests and was deemed fit for purpose ie wouldnt come undone, maybe they are a bit more slack in the states, carl
  4. i think it would be a lot stronger and safer than a karribiner. i think it looks pretty good , the only downside i can see is that its permanently on there. carl
  5. fiberglass paste can work on tricky to weld bits.
  6. thanks for the feedback sounds as though it will suit. thanks carl
  7. nicely done
  8. thinking of getting one of these 360tes for ocasional private jobs for friends nieghbours etc nothing too mega. will it suit and will it start if left unused for a few weeks at a time? also thinking about a stihl 193t? what do you recon ? thanks carl
  9. our local town has a horse fair once a year and the whole town is literally full of vans selling second hand power tools and new Chinese stuff. just a shame people buy from these type of sellers.
  10. i have used a 193t and it feels a lot lighter than a 201t and is nicer to used on deadwooding etc. carl
  11. looks to me like it wants to fall once its freed from the pine in which case your going to need some serious gear to keep the trunk from dropping. could you not just repair the post and rail fence after the job??( maybe there is more targets beneath the pine which i cant see). could try a grc in each of the trackside trees or the pines through a pulleys then up high in the euc to see if you can support it. hope it goes well for you. could try the dadio spear cut!!!( if your feeling lucky )
  12. thanks for those links that was exactly the sort of thing i was think of. carl.
  13. anyone fit larger wing mirrors to a 130 tipper?? we tow a tracked chipper about and i find the narrow mirrors a pain when reversing ,as soon as the trailer is kinked its hard to see whats going on. thanks carl
  14. one of my first things to do onsite is suss out how much collateral damage one can get away with! better to ask first rather than spend ages avoiding a shrub for them to then say oh can you cut that down too !
  15. jobs like that are so efficient with a tracked chipper:thumbup1:
  16. iv got a 133r presumably and older model and its been great, done loads of work with it , blades mulching etc and it keeps going the only thing i dont like is i find the vibes quiet high compared to the bigger sthil machines i use at work.
  17. i think the work ones are 310nm , i brought my torque wrench in but was nowhere near big enough, we could barley get them off so just put them back on at that sort of tightness, do you reckon a torque wrench is necessary or not??
  18. looks like you picked the dodgiest tree in the whole woodland to anchor off sounds like a nice job though.
  19. i guess a day rate could be better than massively under pricing a job if your unsure as to how to quote it.
  20. could be worth looking at some of the other srt gadgets bulldog bone, rope runner etc.
  21. carlos

    Trailers

id get a cheap or second hand small trailer for your mower and a few logs but as others have said there not great for loads of logs , i load up my 7x4 with logs but it feels a bit pushed. then do test and get bigger trailer, the small one will always be handy for the mower n light stuff. carl
  22. with the right accsess and 30m reach , big take downs shouldn't take long!
  23. thanks ill have a look at those vids, i dont use speedlines much but in the right spot there a handy system. thanks carl
  24. never really used a control line much myself but in this case the stuff was quiet close to a roof with plastic panels in, so i thought it gave a bit more margin for error. iam thinking along the lines of a sling and crab and munter hitch next to the climber but this would mean holding it whilst cutting. thanks carl
  25. just looking at ways that the climber can control a return/control line from in the tree when zipping limbs? thanks carl
