  1. has anyone repaired the crank on a 261 ? the one at work is knackered due to the bearing issue. is the same thing likely to happen again? shame as its a nice saw aside from that. carl

hows every one finding their new 2511 saw? when the 2510 came out everyone seemed to be raving about it but this thread has gone a bit quiet? thanks carl
  4. if your on facebook there is a group called "the irish treecare association" i think there may be a few members from the north on there so could well be worth asking there. hope you get some advice. carl
  5. recent rope bag fan €20 well spent, much tidier and more efficient. also a short rope for small trees, nothing worse than 45m of rope around for a 20ft tree. also i think hi vis ropes are important too, green rope? er no thanks! carl
  6. there was a 6.5T hydraulic "comeup" winch on the work mog and that was fine for pulling the mog out and winching over tree,s not fast and probably not the best but did its job. found the trick to getting unstuck was to match the low range gears to the winch speed and kinda play them off each other. carl
  7. id imagine a hydraulic one on the front would be a lot more useful in terms of getting unstuck, or can you get a pto one thats always on the front?
  8. thanks for the replies, will try out the suggestions. carl
  9. just wondering the best way to clean the new felt/fabric air filters in the 201tc and in some other saws too. prefer the old style plastic mesh ones for cleaning. thanks carl
  10. not at work but use one loads on the land at home for logs, branches garden waste
  11. i realize what happened i just think that the real problem was the cage attachment failing .
  12. rember that really sad although id say it was more down to the platform failing rather than their safety gear.
  13. ive worn the automatic inflating ones for sailing whilst climbing over water, i generally moan about them but in reality they dont really get in the way that much. not sure wether its totally necessary but id imagine trying to float with all your harness, saw boots trousers etc might prove difficult. as huck says though one dosent make arrangements for falling from a tree not over water. intrested to hear other views guidelines etc. id say the ground staff on the bank would be at a greater risk, so a life ring and some sort of throwline could be a good idea. just my thoughts, haven't a clue about laws. carl
  14. fantastic film , even better soundtrack !
  15. hard to get guys to wear them when its not your company, fair play for trying, seems insane not to! as for the fence incedent id say you not the first person to misjudge the weight of a pine limb probably wont be the last!! thanks again for sharing carl
  16. thanks for sharing bit hectic for my liking and iam not a fan of groundies with no helmets on. carl
  17. ha ha:biggrin: its true what people say " they go anywhere" but what they dont tell you is they dont always come out again with a full load of chips!!
  18. from what i remember one had to engage on tick over but releasing the clutch toggle lever very very slowly then just build up the revs with the hand throttle lever. are you releasing the clutch toggle slowly? id agree with old mill get some one who knows to look and show you, prob only take 5 min. carl
  19. great family day out to get the christmas tree!! goes a bit pear shaped when little bobby finds the gun in the boot while your unloading the tree and accidentally blows his sisters head off!!!! stick with a bow saw... carl
  20. what about a tracked chipper and spray chip around the stumps and level out to rot down, very quick as no marching the brash about.
  21. fuchs pistol type one handed pump with screw in cartridges, works well for us and compared to traditional ones more grease goes into the bearing than over oneself !!! carl
  22. the 750 has the fold down hopper, not sure if your 530t has the older fixed hopper?? we have both styles at work and the fold down one is way way better. carl
  23. yes in that situation then it might not hold, i dont tend to do many light reductions!
  24. id nearly always lanyard into something that i would trust not to break in the event of a fall,
  25. makes sense to me
