  1. ive used "zing it" throwline for ages and it seems fine, obviously it still gets tangled but thats me not the throwline! crazy strong too.
  2. fair enough im sure some people can work safely like that but a quick youtube treework fail search proves there are many that cant!
  3. to the op, how about keep your day job( and wage)try and reduce your hours, do a short arb course and try and get some weekend work with a local firm, prove your worth and test out the water as to wether you like arb work, you may find the odd weekend will be enough or you may love it and want to go further. to stephen blair would you suggest someone buys some spanners and sets up as a mechanic or a multimeter and pair of pliers and starts doing electrical work?? fair enough little bits of garden tree work etc, i think when you have done tree work for a while its easy to forget what you have learnt and think its all easy as a lot of it is when you know how, only when you see a trainee in action do you relies how much there is to learn. my 5 cent. carl
  4. those buckles put me off, they look like they are from a cheap Chinese kids toy, added to the zig zag fiasco i gave the sequoia a miss. carl
  5. the stuff of my dreams!! nice one

    Ouch.

not sure what the voice over in the vid is going on about the amount of wraps for imo if too many wraps results in half the tree failing with you in it then the amount of wraps is way down the list of errors going on. carl
  7. they will probably regret trying to save that as its invasive and hard to get rid of, looks cool though.
  8. thanks for taking the time to make and post your vids again dadio carl
  9. an axe for the roots !!??? are you going to try and dig the roots out? that is hard work and can take ages. carl
  10. id agree with all that josh its all down to how often you need to go off road with a chip truck, round our way its all the time so a landrover 130 tipper works well, any bigger chip box and id say your talking mog or tractor n trailer. every ones set up varies a lot according to type of work and type of site plus size of team etc, what will work for some wont for others not so much a case of right or wrong . carl
  11. great thread, cant beat kids enthusiasm for helping out.
  12. looked ok to me not that i watched all of it mind, seen a lot lot worse on the net.
  13. id agree. if its only an unaided fell that counts then thats only a tree thats weighted where you want it to land, where as if you include assisted then you open up all the crazy back leaners etc that some people manage. in my mind a stunt fell is a tricky fell that went according to plan and had it not would have caused a bit of bother! just my thoughts carl

    110 v 130

i think live export cattle and sheep have more room and comfort than land rover drivers!! that said great offroad tow well, the 130 seems to be more stable when towing than the 110. the work 130 single cab tipper capacity is ok and seems to have a nice light footprint even when fully loaded which is great when on lawns. carl
  15. how can you check the condition of the roots in a root balled tree without destroying the rootball?
  16. iam no expert but i would have thought it should of come into leaf a bit rather than not at all, roots do look way to small though, so maybe another factor plus the small roots? also is the crown spread quiet large? most ones we get seem to be pruned back a fair bit. just throwing these points out there. carl
  17. well top marks managing to miss all that protective metal work!! hope you get it sorted.
  18. it seemed to be the interlock switch under the hopper playing up, the actual switch worked but the plate needed to be bent in very slightly, so hopefully that will sort it. thanks for your help with it Mike appreciate it. carl
  19. used the chipper today but didnt get time to poke about with a multimeter, but when it was acting up the three lights on the control board where flickering on and off. then a while later lost all movement in the feed rollers and all the lights on the board had gone out.? thanks carl
  20. thanks mike will take a look at those parts. thanks carl
  21. er it just is!! each leg is taking half the load but your right it is still just a single sling, get some string or wool and play around trying to break it in different configurations.
  22. hi the jensen 530 tracked chipper at work has developed a problem with the feed rollers, basicly they are stopping dead on bits of wood that they wouldnt normally and when you go to reverse the feed rollers nothing happens until you wrench and tug the branch then they reverse???? we have changed the hydraulic oil and filter recently. any help appreciated . thanks carl

  24. the one at work has a knackered crank, just over a year old, sat under the bench as too expensive to fix, shame as a nice saw when working properly. carl
