  1. hi joe you dont have any photos of that silky leg loop set up do you/ thanks carl.
  2. go for a tracked machine, very versatile, and round our way nearly everyone wants to keep the chip often in a pile right by the tree coming down oddly enough!
  3. 240 in honey bros. i like the look of the extra lower leg protection, always seems to get ragged there.
  4. anyone tried them or seen them?? look like they could be what iam after as i have a normal pair of the breatheflexs and find them very comfy just i feel the fabric didnt last as long as id hoped. thanks carl
  5. yep we have some echo 501,s as a 261 replacment and they seem pretty good and reliable although parts seem hard to source.
  6. i heard there was a dodgy batch of clutch drums that werent 100% true where the needle bearing sits, not sure if this is the case or not, shame as good saw otherwise.
  7. those flexible garden buckets are great for pull ropes and rigging ropes forgot ours the last couple of days and realized just how good they are compared to coiling when your pulling over multiple tree all over the site, can never be bothered to coil after every tree then end up with a big mess!
  8. thats the one i use , thought id go cheap to try it out , lasted a while too.
  9. used a grinder with a sanding disc on top and bottom rollers to good effect, didnt take out the bottom roller but seem to remember one of the lads found a plate that could be removed on the bottom which helped accsess. (didnt actually do the job myself).
  10. just use a rope bag these days, just stuff it in, seem to come out easy too.
  11. id say so since you can get an echo for €350!
  12. you not getting on with the 201tcm? whats wrong with it? why did you change from the echo? carl
  13. polesaw and stepladder!!!! now theres a winning combo.... maybe
  14. havent used the husky top handle so cant comment on them. we use stihl 201tcm at work and they seem great, enough power and reliable so far. i bought a echo 360t for my own jobs, ill admit the main draw was reasonable reviews on arbtalk and the €350 price tag!! it doesnt feel as nice in the hand as the 201tcm but then the echo did come with a 14" bar and i prefer 12" bars on tophandles, just too tight to change it yet. i feel that the stihl is a bit more refined in power delivery and build quality( the echo unfortunately looks a bit like it might of come from Argos!) i haven't done loads of work with the echo but it seems fine so far, one draw back with the echo,s is it seems difficult to get spares quickly, so not great if its going to be your only tophandle. so if moneys flush id go stihl 201tcm , short on funds, back up saw, id go echo. hope that helps. carl

    Favourite Saw

has to be my 346xpg for me. just love that saw
  16. not always especially if the climber is inexperienced and the groundy is experienced. in oldwood cutters case the fact that it took the new climber took 3 hours to get up the tree should of suggested he may need a bit of help/ guidance from the ground.
  17. great vid, very hypnotic. thanks for sharing. carl

    Tiny echo!

we have a echo 501 ground saw thats been out of action for a couple of weeks now as we are waiting on parts, seems a shame to not have a quick parts service for professional saws, good saws though. carl
  20. sorry but id say going out in a raging storm trying to clear up fallen trees is madness!! each to there own though. carl
  21. looks like it could be quite bad here in the south west of Ireland! carl.

    Stihl MS180

a friend asked what small saw they should get for small felling and firewood. i thought the 180 would suit, their previous saw was a lidl job, figured the main makes would be easier to maintain and last longer. any opinions. thanks carl
  24. how does it bug you?
  25. i think a marlin spike knot would be better and easier for clipping into and sending stuff up, than a clove hitch. carl
