using that mewp as an anchor is going to be way safer and more ergonimic than any dodgy anchor he,s going to find in the top of the hedge round by his ankles! ok its not by the book but as long as you know your machine and its limits id say thats ok, ive worked from the end of a hi-ab a good few times works really well. carl -

cool project, doesnt look like its seen much work? or else you cleaned it up well! hope you get it going well. i have an old 254 which is a bit tempermentle, still cuts well though considering its age.

i find these threads regarding rigging interesting but i must admit in my years of doing tree work i have never once known the weight of any bit of wood i have rigged! any one else the same?? carl

is that thing in the poplar video?? was pretty incredible what they were doing with it. yes it does look like the arb equivalent of an aston martin or maclaren, very very nice but never gonna own one.

your C.V is all your education and jobs ect to date it doesnt have to be arb related ,. a guy got a trainee job where i work and he had no manual work experience at all, just office stuff and a degree, put in a good covering letter, got the job and was a great worker. where there,s a will there,s a way. and whilst draggin brash one can always look around and learn and ask questions, plus if you put your back into it it shows your new boss what your made of and in a good company that can pay dividends later on when you want more training or a chance to climb etc. carl.

workers just doing there job shouldn't be put in the firing line. threatening workers and their families over a tree??? i like trees but i think thats a bit ott. carl

oh ok i understand the principle of the wind blowing a tree over, i just didnt really see how the wind could of helped in the video but as you say not a great idea given the setting.

fair enough there pretty small saws.

although a back handled saw is more ergonomic with two hands on it i would find it a real pain to climb around on a prune and hard to get target cuts in.

well thats great to see everyone agreeing on which tophandle is best!!! lol

id tend to silky the ends with foliage on, once you get in a rhythm with it it can be pretty quick, then step cut the larger wood where the step cuts will be a lot more dependable. id say you just need more time to get the cuts right as it varies with different species and from tree to tree. carl

as much as one can see anything out of a landrover... front or back!! ( id tie to the front aswell)

the echo 501sx is a nice small ground saw, not sure on price mind
