  1. I thought that in general wood had a MC of around 19-20% and it would stabilise at that. Therefore isnt it pointless getting any lower unless its vacuum packed and used immediately after opening?
  2. Looks like a cracking tree. Any ideas/estimates on how old it is?
  3. Along time ago one of the lads I worked with(while subbing) brought his dog into work one day, thats all it lasted, one day. He and his dog would have been found dead under a pile of chip if he had tried it again. I could see no problem if they are out working in the woods on their own but not on domestic with other lads in the van.
  4. Maybe it was a public sector worker who thought... "Stuff this teaching job for a laugh I'm going to go and earn my own money doing a proper job, no one can complain about me then" If they had only pruned the sides it would have been 10x better!
  5. They weren't climbing saws, they were hobby saws with a handle on the top!
  6. He does speak absolute shite, buts its funny shite. How un English of these public sector workers striking. They should stay downtrodden and keep theirs mouths shut.
  7. The petzl ball lock ones aren't too bad but it is best you try one out first as they can be fiddlely to some. Anyway shouldn't you still be using a screwgate? I always preferred those over the three way but I am now so used to three way krabs I would probably launch myself out of a tree if I tried with the good old screwgate again!
  8. With this thread and others about the 201 it does sound like a hell of alot are either having trouble with the saw or just don't rate it compared to the 020. Maybe husky are doing the right thing by pissing about making sure its right first time!!
  9. Nearly always use a ladder for access into the crown, only because it's more professional than using spikes. Hardly ever use them to work off, only really when it can't be done from climbing or when its alot quicker.
  10. Ah right onto the 13 year compost heap at the bottom of the yard. Ha, do you compost it yourself then or take it to a green waste recycling site? Just wondering what everyone does, chip we give away, timber some gets processed excess given away and the useless mushy stuff goes for recycling to a GW site.
  11. Those who 100% recycle what do you do with rotten timber?
  12. Who the insurance company?
  13. Not all of us. I would charge treble if it was an emergency.:humbup1: Charge a good rate, especially if the insurance are paying.
  14. Yes it is wrong! Cant you get some nasty parasites from dogs doing stuff like that? I dont know how people let dogs like their faces and mouths!!
  15. Heard it today, so for me it is now officially Christmas. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwHyuraau4Q]The Pogues & Kirsty McColl Fairytale Of New York - YouTube[/ame]
  16. Whatever origin or ethnicity it was it tasted great. A real nice mushroomy flavour, plucked from the corpse of an elderberry I killed a few weeks ago.
  17. Something needs to be done to help growth in small business. Whether that's tax breaks or incentives to employ or just the help with loaning I dont know but the large business have had it far too good for far too long. Makes me sick to see companies complaining that their profits are down by £xxxmillion and how they are struggling. Many small firms have been losing money not profit.
  18. You need a new banksman! You need to see something in the mirrors, if its not the chipper or bits added on to help its a good banksman who doesnt just randomly wave then grubble stop when you are a nanometre away from something!
  19. brought a tear to my eye. Thats the kind of Karma I receive.
  20. Had quite a few in knuckle joints that more or less stop me having grip for a few days. Thankfully it has mainly been in my left hand.
  21. I am hoping it is oyster mushroom, but not 100%. I have circled it in red so not to cause confusion.
  22. To be bluntly honest nothing, I only joined because I didnt like my new harness and I still have it. Besides that all I have gleaned its lots of relevant info in regards to my business.

  24. First pic looks like a decent one, second pic the crane driver looks a bit worried(love the halloween pumpkin carving on the crane hook ball btw:thumbup1:), third pic perspective looks a bit to cock, I hope:confused1:, fourth pic-oh my, thats a big one! As echoded, thats one of the biggest lombardies I have seen, top show.
  25. As long as they do a mechanical check on the truck then they sound superb. Looks like a right horrible section on a set of spikes!! Only JK on the first comment(I feel the need to say that to be politically and humanely correct) but its usually the machine that fails and kills the OP rather than the OP doing something silly.
