  1. Basic equipment PPE, climbing gear and a chainsaw. Less than 1K easy. You can hire everything else as and when needed.
  2. Its +25 c here, get the central heating on you tight git. Always a good heads up on the anti freeze.
  3. Cheers for the info. Just interested in what gets done, for years I thought they were only checked out in the factory and the dealers didnt have to touch them. I once had one of the lads ask me to look at a brand new 026(yes it was a few years ago!) for him that was running very badly. Checked it out and the h and l screws were something like 2 1/2 turns out, reset them and it was fine. He hadnt touched it and it was right out of the box so someone at the dealers must have had a few the night before.
  4. If you dont mind me asking what are you supposed to do in a PDI?
  5. With crossers you would change the rings and/or piston fairly often some every 4 hours of running to keep them tip top, so no time to run them in gently.Plus I think bikes have a far better cooling system than a chainsaw. Well that was 20 years ago so things might have changed since then!
  6. Interesting thread. Very strange that one supplier can supply excellent saws when many others are having lots of problems! How much tuning can be done on the 201 as you can't adjust the h l screws very far out from factory specs on a 200 unless you start modding it, even then more than a quarter turn either way and it will run crap or blow up fairly quickly. Be interesting for any follow up feedback on how it's running after your given it a good slapping.
  7. I would just try to work out the best way to sell my stock and get the best profit out if it. If that means doing discounts to a bulk buyer then I wouldnt see it as a problem. Its great sticking to your prices but if you have a yard full of unsold produce its worth feck all.
  8. One day he is gonna squash a camera man I tell ya. Editors sure earn their dollar!
  9. that's what I would look at doing, or get a different saw. Unbelievable when manufactures do stupid things like this, I mean I have never had a problem with sprocket needle bearings collapsing and some of them have been 10 years without a drop of oil or grease!

    Red wine

It's good to see you all talking about it, admittance is the first step. Nothing through the week but if I'm staying in then only four or five ales on a fri/sat. If I'm out on the piss then that easily gets trebled.
  11. Well Im not a tree surgeon I only come on here to pretend. You should hear what I get up to on the base jumping forums!!! In general that job would take from a mornings work to a full day depending on the team/s. But that doesnt really matter to the OP tbh, he said it will take 2 days for him so he 'should' know how much it will cost. Thats the key to pricing knowing how long it will take you and your equipment to do a job and price it accordingly. Well for me it is anyway, I know some say they price the job according to what their competitors would price it at which is a better idea and I can see the logic in it, its just that its something I couldn't do so I dont try. Hope you win the job and carry it out with out any problems.
  12. From what I know elm wont rot but all wood will in contact with concrete.
  13. Since you have taken the time to draw in colour its well worth an answer. £400 I estimate 2 men 14 days but in todays economic climate I reckon its a fair price.
  14. Err thinking about it, I would be giving your mate a bit of a good slapping with her knowing her old man is a dodgy geezer and getting you to do a job for him! Although be it a good lesson to do a written quote in future.
  15. We try to have some structure to the day ie break around 10:30 then dinner around 12:30-1 but all depends on the job/s and the weather. For those that dont have breaks! you need to work harder!!
  16. Sorry but if thats true they are scum. Hope you can come to some agreement and just chalk it up scumbags trying to pull a fast one. Out of all the above suggestions Rupes one of fire would be the top of my list.
  17. Try this one instead.
  18. opened ok for me.
  19. Nice1 for sharing the info. I bet the VOSA staff at the side of the road aren't as clued up.
  20. Thanks for the info.
  21. Have a look at the small metal rod located in the middle of the carb cover. Its the bit that the air filter tightens into. I had one fail and part of it got sucked into the engine, the other part stayed in place so it still kept the air filter cover on. Also found another that was cracked but still in place.
  22. People with kids get too many benefits anyway, they have their own parking spaces in B&Q now!! TBH Im glad the government got knocked back on the benefits cap because we all know that the people who can dodgy the system will still end up OK, while those who really need it ie people with serious health issues or looking after disabled parents and children would be the ones to suffer. From what I gathered anyway. They only real way I can see to get people off benefits and into work is to make them work while still helping out with benefits to a better degree than they do now.
  23. Looks excellent. Is it a wax or oil finish? I have no advice to give just wondering thats all.
  24. I also noticed that all the 020/200T run at 15K at standard carb settings, and most other saws also over by about 1K. Thats also using a tiny tach, so a possibility they arent that accurate maybe?
  25. Tbh I usually hate wearing gloves especially when climbing but these ones were fairly good. They got hammered as we were doing a lot of scrub clearance with plenty of thorny stuff plus wire, glass and other nasty stuff. So about 2 weeks which considering the abuse they got was quite good.
