  1. Please ignore my stupid comment as im a muppet.
  2. Just wondering what everyone uses. I just usually retire the ppe crabs to tool duty but wondering if others are using purpose crabs/connectors.
  3. We are all as salesman,im just a poor one. No seriously though, my philosophy is trees in an urban environment have a 'very' limited lifespan. Therefore fell if needed/required and replant. Hanging on to trees in the wrong environment serves no good purpose. We manage trees, not try to save everyone.
  4. I know that one for sure. Every time I coil a rope be it climbing or rigging a sneaky bit will always find the nearest twig of a nothing, decide to form a knot then continue to wrap itself 42 times around said offending thing! In response to OP, i asked same thing and I think the barrel knot is a winner.
  5. I dont like that philosophy, ie what I say goes. You are there only because of the clients request, you should listen to what they say and advise only if they request it. Otherwise we are just another pushy salesman. I never like the idea of tapping up customers whatever guise that may take.
  6. If the client was really concerned/worried I would fell and replant. If they wanted to retain then a reduction, but maybe a hardish one.
  7. SIP progress A for me very comfy and hard wearing. Had them for 18+ months and although I am changing them soon they dont look nearly a tenth as bad as the usual trousers after 6 months.
  8. You need to be careful that you dont unbalance it all if you just renew a couple of pockets. They dont look too bad, i used to use the vermeer pro teeth and they were worn when the bolts stuck out further than the pockets!
  9. How to ID it not what the latin name is you whopper. Although if a true black pop is a manchester pop I can ID that one, they look horrible and scabby.
  10. Got to be less than any other trades due to the simple reason you dont see many old climbers in comparison to the amount of old ground workers and other tradesmen you see. I think its not the physical hard work, a groundie gets a better workout, its more to do with the suppleness and injuries.A poor choice of words and description but when climbing I can easily get injured(just sprains and knocks) and feel more achy compared to when grounding.
  11. So we all have to pay a bit more tax to fund an enormously vast amount of people to wake up the lazy people that dont pay tax? We could just pay the lazy people to wake themselves up and thus saving loads of money in employing lazy people waker uperes. The benefit system is a total farce ime. I had an injury many years ago where I had to not work for at least 6 weeks due to nerve damage, would income support help me out even though I had a job to go back to as soon as I was able to would they fook. Because I was self employed I had to be out of work for something like 6 weeks before I could claim anything!!! I had a right old whinge an moan and hassled loads of people for the grand sum of around £150! That was 13-14 years ago and I have worked ever since, im fairly sure I have put back what I claimed.
  12. Not wanting to hijack the thread but whats the ident on a true black pop? I just call all nasty big pops hybrid blacks:thumbup: but would like to know which are true black pops if they are indeed in decline.
  13. I've also ordered in the past, quick delivery an also swapped a pair of pants at no extra cost because I ordered the wrong size.
  14. I know, it's quite unbelievable that turf and tarmac come higher up the list and therefore are deligated more funds to than trees! You can see it breaks some groundwork companies hearts to have to pay a tree man rather than their blokes in a 360 and a D9.
  15. If you could make a vid and put it up on YouTube it will make it easier to diagnose. Is the bar bluing or paint burning off where it smokes from?
  16. True. Although I think Professor Frink said it best when he said "I predict that within 100 years, computers will be twice as powerful, ten thousand times larger, and so expensive that only the five richest kings of Europe will own them."
  17. Ahh right ive seen this stuff before then. I saw it on Jurassic park 2. Or was it 3? Very good indeed but I think its never going to happen in the way we hope it will.
  18. They shouldnt in regards to asking for AAAC, IIRC they could face serious consequences, and so they should. Speak to your LA and get on their list. Commercial is more difficult as you need to know who is doing the work, where and when. Landscaping development and groundwork companies are a good start as they usually get the tree work lumped in with their more important works.
  19. How did you ask if there was a TPO? Ie 'Is there a TPO at number XXX' compared to, 'There is a beautiful oak I want to fell at number XXX is it TPO'd?' I would just carry on with the work if they havent given papers/orders to the customer, If they havent already TPO'd it then surely it isnt worth TPOing!
  20. Both looking very nice:thumbup1: They will probably be the only apps that I will actually use! Money extremelly well spent.
  21. Im sure it will if it works. Does it assemble stuff at the atomic level?!
