  1. First things first gents These have only just arrived. I only have these samples in these particular lengths and sizes. If people try them and like them next stage will be to get some reels in of different sizes. But I need some testers for these first - they are the only ones I've got and I can't shorten them as the tie straps may be different to Oregon or Stihl.
  2. Got x3 of these chain samples (from China) for people to try. The deal is - you buy these for £20-00+vat from here OFFERS | Product Categories | Sugihara Guide Bars You pay for it. After you have given it a good ragging you post pics and a few sentences of how you found it on this thread. And then we'll refund you. This must be within 30 days of buying it. If you don't get round to posting the pics and info then no refund so please think carefully before doing this. If you can't see them there yet it means I haven't quite finished putting them up.
  3. I don't want to jinx anything but I have not had a single Echo saw back to me for any reason so far... they could well be telling the truth. Bear in mind these are quite new models though.
  4. In the Echo range the 501SX is the nearest to it....
  5. We'll have some diamond bar dressers in 4 months or so.... otherwise I use battery angle grinder with flap disc.

Yep I would also say an unwise call as well especially as the Sugi chain will not be cheap - why add complications!? I am pushing them on this point and will see what happens...
  7. That is us Greg! And yes they fit
  8. You should have a look at the Echo 501SX which is very new on the market. I've had a small play on it and it is a lovely saw to use. Husky 550XP weighs 4.9kg power is 2.8kW Echo 501SX weighs 4.7kg power is 2.57kW What might swing it for you is the Husky is prob cheaper at the mo as there is a special offer on them Husqvarna 550XP chainsaw (50.1cc)

I know it needs an extra drive link but that is not really a big deal when using the Stihl bar. The Sugi bars are 4 months away just as a warning - they should take the standard 56 drive link chain BUT the Stihl chain will not fit!! This is because the drive links on the Stihl 1/4 .043 chain are a slightly different design - they will not travel around the sprocket nose on the new sugi bars that will be coming in (I had a couple of demo bars and it's true the Stihl chain does not go round the nose sprocket tightly). Sugihara say they can't make the nose sprocket that is able to take the chain cleanly round the nose of their bars. Sugihara are making their own chain to go on their own bars - but you won't be able to put the Sugi chain on a Stihl bar or vice versa. I have tried the Sugi chain and it seems good and hopefully will be up to Stihl chain - but an unnecessary complication IMO and I'm still not sure manufacturer wise who is the culprit!
  10. One idea for the sides is to have fine green mesh - allows gentle air through flow but stops rain etc getting all the outer boards... plus it's cheap.!
  11. Nice work if that is just the test piece!
  12. In your position Alec I would go back to Parcelforce and basically explain that the signature has been forged and you can prove it. See what they do. If 'not a lot' then ask to put in a formal complaint saying that you can prove that this signature was forged as neither your wife or yourself could have signed for this parcel. Follow the complaint up. Although it may be down to the sellers responsibility as they chose the courier I would chase this myself while at the same time logging a dispute on ebay. It may not be the sellers fault but it is up to them to help you on this. That way you have a two pronged attack and one or the other should hopefully result in a ruling in your favour.
  13. Nice raw work - like it
  14. It looks like it would be very sticky - I used to put my rope in a pillow case, tie it up and put in the washing machine and it came out looking like new if that helps!

If you are driving 3/8 lo pro chain you can switch to a bar that takes 3/8 .043 which gives a very fast clean cut. [ame] [/ame] There is the Stihl chain or Oregon 90px options and you can find the bar here: GROUP 1 Multi mount | Product Categories | Sugihara Guide Bars These go up to 18".

Haha!..... you'll have worn that Stihl bar out by the time the Sugihara bars are here so you'll be ready! There is a huge lead time now from the factory and we have to overlap x3 orders at a time these days... all good fun

Yep now that people have tried and seem to be liking may well feature these saws as an ongoing option in both 10" and 12". In fact have listed here OFFERS | Product Categories | Sugihara Guide Bars you can e-mail a copy of CS39 or whattsapp/text it to 07811611457. In around 5 months (September) will have Sugihara bars (pro lams) to go on these which should then complete the saw!
  21. It's a big subject really - but the basics will see you getting good results and they are good chainsaw maintenace and a correctly sharpened chain at all times.

I think when people really start getting into these .043 chains and seeing the difference in cutting performance most will not look back. There is a slight pay off in that the bars will be a little less stiff and I expect you'll get less sharpens out of each chain - but this is against a faster, cleaner cut and the bar and chain itself weigh less.
  23. Hmmm... it's a reason but I would say they just want that tree gone and it sounds better than 'it takes all the light from the garden'. What a shame as that has to be a few years old and it looks healthy. Well done for trying to persuade them out of it.
  24. Next special offer will be with the 620SX on the Sugi website. Although I'm thinking of doing this to run 3/8 lo pro with a series of bars thrown in ie. 20" Quarter tip bar, 20" pro lam, 18" toonie, 18" standard light type running 3/8 standard. So sort of a carving set up really but also with the lo pro set up good to use on the small log mills with a Stihl PMX chain - can also be used for general cutting as well. Will be an all rounder sort of thing - and as you can read not decided the details yet. This will be next week. Rob PS - can always PM me some ideas - what would entice you into getting a 620SX? (if we could avoid the 'if it was £300-00 inc vat and postage mate' type suggestions ) More - what set up do you want to run on there....
