  1. A beauty! I did have one worse where so worn it has then splayed like a flower opening! Can't find it now though....

    Tiny echo!

All our customers will get an official e-mail as well to the effect of: Stop using the saw. Empty of fuel, remove bar and chain. Box it and advise us which day you want collected. Do you want the offer of a CS280TES before the new 2511 is available? We will fit these with a 1/4 sprocket so you can continue using the mini 1/4 .043 bar and chain. Or we can refund you Rob
  3. A few pics of bar/chain/sprocket brought in today... Only seen one sprocket worn worse than this one! Damaged sprockets in turn damage drive links which then gouge out the bar. This particular customer still felt there was plenty of life left in this!
  4. It's an idea however.... Whether direct or on ebay there is no margin in these mills at these prices. To set up a website is still time consuming and therefore expensive - we would not put these mills up on our existing sites. So ebay it is! You can find the 36" version here Economy version of Alaskan chainsaw mill - 36" model - intro offer price!! | eBay The 48" version (includes a bracing kit) here Economy version of Alaskan chainsaw mill - 48" model - intro offer price!! | eBay The 60" version (includes a bracing kit) here Economy version of Alaskan chainsaw mill - 60" model - intro offer price!! | eBay Building one of these mills again for the photos I would repeat this is not as well produced as the original. The materials are not as good quality. If you are planning on doing a large amount of milling I would strongly advise buying the real one.
  5. If you wished to try a Tsumura bar we have a few in as a stop gap until the next Sugihara bars arrive. They are another respected bar manufacturuer in Japan. These are currently listed on ebay. We only have x2 types K095 for Husky running .325 .058 chain: Tsumura Chainsaw Bar Husqvarna 15" pro + Chain Husqvarna 357,359,550XP,560XP | eBay Tsumura Chainsaw Bar Husqvarna 18" pro lam + Chain Husqvarna 357,359,550XP,560XP | eBay
  6. Good to hear - we will price match to start with - there may even be a mini price war sparked.. who knows... Granberg are improving what is already a well designed mill to make it better so if nothing else this Chinese mill has stimulated some needed R&D work.
  7. In some ways this mill could fill a niche for home/occasional users. It is not as well built or stong as the Alaskan but for just the odd job or to try milling it is a good economical intro mill. It could be we sell these cheaply at first then try and improve them/rebrand them - of course they would be more expensive after that but still around half the price of the genuine article. Anyways - hang onto your cash for a few more days - we'll get these up on ebay and see where things go!
  8. Yep - I have x100 of these in now and will be listing on ebay shortly. I'd rather people bought one of these off us rather than them. Bit of a dilemma though - I expect Royston will also be listing mills again soon - there is no way in the long term we can offer any sort of service punting these out at the same price that they are. We called them a few times and asked questions about the mills - they have zero product knowledge and refer people to youtube. But if we don't price match people will go for the cheaper option.... :001_huh:
  9. Nope you are not alone! But you are slightly obsessed. Same here! - the good thing is it means you can get good at what you do, bad thing is you will most likely exhaust yourself! Try and do things that takes your mind off trees - get your brain thinking in other directions. Give the little grey cells some time off.....! Haha - all much easier said than done mind you!
  10. What was your full name and I will dig it out manually for you? Yes - again another bug never fully fixed....
  11. Yep - it's disappointing hearing things like this... If you need bars and chains (albeit Sugihara only) then you can always order off the Sugihara website Sugihara Guide Bars I'd like people to have a play on this if possible - this is a Wordpress site, much easier to update, works across all platforms... it is free delivery while we are working on it. But of course not every product is on there.... How do people like how the suggestions work? You pick a bar and then below it lists the chains and sprockets for that bar/saw combo? Only got this loaded for Stihl Groups 1,2 and 3. I never got the chainsawbars.co.uk sprockets area fully working - just too complicated but on this type of format I think we can get things to work well and be accurate. As you scroll down the page it gives you the relevant files (no pics yet) as well.
  12. Yep this is mainly the reason why we are moving onto a new platform - the old one seems full of bugs and the web developer has not been as good at fixing them as we would have liked.... so sorry about that It was a custom build - sounds flash but in reality a right royal pain to fix things and keep up with how browsers work...
  13. Ripsaw - RIP by the looks of things - if you see below... I think I looked at this once and like a few good ideas it wasn't CE marked... Shame. You never know in the future the idea could return. Lifting tongs - we could sell those - are they good? I had some once and never used them much! New inventions are always good - but again the CE marking can slow things down a lot - or even kill them. But am always on the lookout - really I should get off my backside and get over to the large forestry events on the continent...
  14. Interesting reading through this thread - chainsawbars.co.uk is now nearly 5 years old - where has that time gone! Not done much with it recently mainly because we are moving onto another platform this year... So in a few months it will be completely re vamped. Hence am looking for some feedback - ideas to improve it - are you using it? If so why do you buy from here and not somewhere else? What do you like and what don't you like? Or - if you have tried it and then gone elsewhere why was that? What would make you go back to buying off us again? It seems to have a lot of problems being looked at on mobile devices which have caused problems.. Let's have your thoughts - yes mention price/is it easy to find what you are after? Shoot from the hip and don't be shy

    Tiny echo!

Will put all the points to Steve at Countax - you never know! The 1/4 picco chain is a 3.2 mm file - it's fiddly to sharpen!
  16. No worrys Tony - yep I think that would work best - I have tried one chain cutting green heart - it actually seemed pretty good really. Will let you know when they are up on this thread.
  17. I took them off in the end - I only had x3 loops all 3/8 .058 72 drive links - everyone just kept asking for alternative sizes and got fed up saying I only have these x3 chains as samples - nowt else!! Will re put offer up next week together with a bar I think - you'll be able to buy the bar and chain together then get a partial refund when adding your findings to this thread....
  18. We have some pretty cracking deals on the Echo CS281WES at the moment. Comes fitted with a 1/4 drive sprocket and also there are some bars on a BUY 1 get 1 FREE. OFFERS | Product Categories | Sugihara Guide Bars
  19. I totally agree - it's not the sausage you're selling it's the sizzle! Smart work clothes, professionally sign written and branded company, smart quotes on headed paper, good local advertising using all mediums ie local fairs/newspapers/websites etc. Good manners towards customers from all staff - taking the time to talk and build up a good relationship with a customer... People are prepared to pay more. I always regret my dashing around madly and scratching out quotes on whatever paper was floating round the truck at the time - never had time in the evenings... never seemed to ever have any time...
  20. Good effort - I like the log weight to keep the mill down!

    Tiny echo!

It is a shame - but onwards and upwards... Are there any other gripes or opinions on what else could be improved on this saw? I have said about the on off switch being a little Mickey Mouse! Anything else? Any thoughts I can forward to Echo and they may influence the new model. The 2511 is promised to have more performance than this one and be lighter in weight. But production will not start until Sept so will be a while before they come into circulation.
  22. Rob D

    Tiny echo!

Yep Echo seem to have trumped the other main manufacturers here in terms of admitting there is an issue then correcting it - and it's not a small thing either with some 36,000 units odd in circulation
  23. Rob D

    Tiny echo!

Yes they will - all those Echos seem to have the same mount configuration.
  24. Rob D

    Tiny echo!

Hypothetically Joe the dealer would ask you to not use the saw and return it... All these Echo 2510 are going to be destroyed once they have been catelogued so I don't think it matters what condition they come back in. I dare say a few people will continue to use their saws for a bit regardless...
  25. Rob D

    Tiny echo!

Pretty much official. All Echo 2510s are to be recalled. If you own one you will get a confirmation from the dealer you bought it off to stop using it. They will then be recalled. Echo are offering all either: Full refund OR You get a brand new CS280TES for the next few months free until the 2511TES is available (around Oct/Nov) When the new 2511TES comes out you can either buy your CS280TES for £99-00+vat or just return it - either way you get the 2511TES
