  1. We are no longer doing arbtalk goodies! Sorry about that - those were the good old days We are just doing straight offers - have a look at the latest one on carving bars - it's a good un!
  2. OFFERS | Product Categories | Sugihara Guide Bars We are ending arbtalk offers now where people have to put codes in etc and switching to doing special offers within arbtalk. Some of these will be like this one with it's own thread - and some will be peppered within existing threads. The idea is that those who are participating in the thread will then have easier access to the offer..... Some offers will only be publicised on arbtalk. So what's this one then? Well last batch of Sugi carving bars it seems the noses are of different sizes. On the whole a dime tip carving bar will be R9 (the radius of the nose is 9mm) and quarter tip bars will be R13 (radius of the nose is 13mm). But the last batch has bars with noses that measure inbetween these. All of these are fine to run 1/4" pitch chain - but really we want the dime tips to be 9mm and quarter 13mm. [ame] [/ame] So the R stands for what radius the nose of the bar is. So we have arranged with Sugihara to do a deal on the ones that don't fit these measurements - buy 1 get 1 free! Unlikely to ever be repeated so dive in and gorge on the carving bars found here. Only these ones are on this offer! They are universal mounts and will run on any and all chainsaws 40cc or less fitted with a 1/4" drive sprocket. OFFERS | Product Categories | Sugihara Guide Bars Not got a saw to run a carving set up? Why not buy one of the new CS281-WES? Hot price of £180-00 for saw only with 1/4" drive sprocket - then buy your carving bars to go on there. See how to care for your bar and adapt your chain - you can increase the life of your bar massively by correct use and maintenance... you need to look after your bar to get full use out of it. Simon O'Rourke made this vid recently [ame] [/ame]
  3. Yep I agree the old man needs to be buried now we have the next theme in the pipeline but my brother (who is the design wallah) will not do it until I have fully populated the new Sugi site with all the sprockets!
  4. Thanks for your order Dag - it will be dispatched on Monday
  5. Both websites are the same company run from the same place. Why (you would quite reasonably) ask? main reason is chainsawbars.co.uk lists the standard bars for chainsaws ie. if the chainsaw comes with .325 drive sprocket the results will be in .325 sugiharabarsuk.co.uk lists only sugi bars but also gives all types of bar in all types of fittings/options chainsawbars.co.uk lists all things we sell - sugihara is just for sugihara (and ok Echo as well...) chainsawbars.co.uk is pretty slick on the front end - but a right pain to fiddle with round the back! sugiharabarsuk will be a blueprint/trial for the new chainsawbars.co.uk as a distributer you are sometimes asked to have a dedicated website to sell through

    Tiny echo!

I have found the Echo one doesn't! Same for the Echo CS281-WES - you have to play with it for a bit before it goes on. But as said - minor niggle really .....

    Tiny echo!

Also one niggle I have with the saw is I really dislike the chain break band built into the side plate cover - you can spend a while 'fiddling' until it fits over the sprocket drum!
  8. <p>Hi Craig - what sort of stuff are you thinking? We won't be at the show ourselves this year, Rob</p>

  9. It seems to ooze resin each year no matter how dry! I milled a fair bit of it and couldn't do much with the timber.
  10. Whether it is the right thing to do or the wrong thing - chasing up a quote is never going to do any harm! And it could bring in a job that you may not have otherwise got. Probably best not to expect a good % return rate when doing it but I'd say it's good professional business practice. Also you can get some feedback from people on why they perhaps choose to go elsewhere (it may not always be the price).

    Tiny echo!

It is confusing! Sugihara is one company that makes guidebars in Japan (although their actual factory name is Diatop) and Sugihara is the brand name for their bars. Tsumura is another totally seperate company in Japan that also makes guide bars (their company is called Suehiro Seiko). Both companies have a reputation for making an excellent product. I think that some of the Echo 2510s now do come with 1/4" drive sprocket as standard running a Tsumura small tipped carving bar. Tsumura do not make a sprocket nose bar to run 1/4 .043 chain (nor do they have to tooling to do so at the moment). If newer versions are running a 1/4 .043 sprocket nose bar these will be Sugihara bars - who do make a 1/4 .043 sprocket nose bar but it will not run the Stihl 1/4 .043 chain (it will run Sugihara's own version of the 1/4 .043 chain). Tsumura seem to make the laminated bars on the smaller Echo saws while Sugihara make the larger pro solid bars on the larger Echos.
  12. Ref removing teeth - to do it properly would take some time as you would be taking away a tooth then adding a blank drive link (one break then joining twice each time). If you simply grind the tooth off the chain can be weakened and snap at that point.
  13. James what about a reel of 27RX which I think is what you're after. Baileys have it and says in stock Oregon 100' Ripping Chain Reel (27Rx-1484 Drive Links) 27Rx100u | Oregon 27RX Ripping Chain (Super Skip) | Ripping/Milling Chainsaw Chain (.404" x .063") | www.www.baileysonline.com.com There are 1480 drive links in a 100ft reel of .404 chain. You get the joiners and tie straps in with the chain when you buy 100ft. It's £520-00 + shipping and import costs.
  14. I can furnish you with this! PM me all your details address etc and phone number
  15. So no takers on this so far? I'll test a loop but would be better if a few other people could do the same... You will be refunded as soon as you post your findings back on this thread!
  16. First things first gents These have only just arrived. I only have these samples in these particular lengths and sizes. If people try them and like them next stage will be to get some reels in of different sizes. But I need some testers for these first - they are the only ones I've got and I can't shorten them as the tie straps may be different to Oregon or Stihl.
  17. Got x3 of these chain samples (from China) for people to try. The deal is - you buy these for £20-00+vat from here OFFERS | Product Categories | Sugihara Guide Bars You pay for it. After you have given it a good ragging you post pics and a few sentences of how you found it on this thread. And then we'll refund you. This must be within 30 days of buying it. If you don't get round to posting the pics and info then no refund so please think carefully before doing this. If you can't see them there yet it means I haven't quite finished putting them up.
  18. I don't want to jinx anything but I have not had a single Echo saw back to me for any reason so far... they could well be telling the truth. Bear in mind these are quite new models though.
  19. In the Echo range the 501SX is the nearest to it....
  20. We'll have some diamond bar dressers in 4 months or so.... otherwise I use battery angle grinder with flap disc.

    Tiny echo!

Yep I would also say an unwise call as well especially as the Sugi chain will not be cheap - why add complications!? I am pushing them on this point and will see what happens...
  22. That is us Greg! And yes they fit
  23. You should have a look at the Echo 501SX which is very new on the market. I've had a small play on it and it is a lovely saw to use. Husky 550XP weighs 4.9kg power is 2.8kW Echo 501SX weighs 4.7kg power is 2.57kW What might swing it for you is the Husky is prob cheaper at the mo as there is a special offer on them Husqvarna 550XP chainsaw (50.1cc)

    Tiny echo!

I know it needs an extra drive link but that is not really a big deal when using the Stihl bar. The Sugi bars are 4 months away just as a warning - they should take the standard 56 drive link chain BUT the Stihl chain will not fit!! This is because the drive links on the Stihl 1/4 .043 chain are a slightly different design - they will not travel around the sprocket nose on the new sugi bars that will be coming in (I had a couple of demo bars and it's true the Stihl chain does not go round the nose sprocket tightly). Sugihara say they can't make the nose sprocket that is able to take the chain cleanly round the nose of their bars. Sugihara are making their own chain to go on their own bars - but you won't be able to put the Sugi chain on a Stihl bar or vice versa. I have tried the Sugi chain and it seems good and hopefully will be up to Stihl chain - but an unnecessary complication IMO and I'm still not sure manufacturer wise who is the culprit!
