  1. Haha! I'm now starting to worry about it! I think it's ok - because both saws are trying to push that chain around the bar. You'd have to have no load on it for it for one saw to affect the other.
  2. Yep but I did an article here - every combo of very different mis matched saws worked - as in worked in practice rather than not worked in theory. It doesn't seem to matter how much I say this or write it not many seem to believe me Any combo between a 70cc and 120cc saw should work. Double ended milling is awesome when it works - and a right pain in the backside when it does not.

  4. The ship seems to be quarnatined on a health issue for some reason! So apologies not sure when they are unpacking will feedback when we know more.
  5. If you just want the GB lo pro rim use the postage reducer tool or PM me after order and I'll refund the postage.
  6. Hi Tom - I chased up the shippers about this but no reply yet - I expect the Woodchucks to dock this weekend or early next week. The Sugi bars ship has docked... Sorry I can't be more specific. Soon as I have more news will post up. Yes can look at milling the beech as long as there is no time scale involved. Usually in these scenarios I just go halves on the wood with you. Send some pics and details over to [email protected]
  7. Good stats - let us know when you have the vids posted and I'll refund the order.
  8. It's pretty hard to nail down bars for these older saws - your best bet is to check out the pics of the bar mounts on the Oregon site and then match that up with what think you need for the saw then see if that bar part number still exists. There is no easy way - Frontier shows up on the Oregon Selector here but not that model number: http://www.oregonproducts.co.uk/en-gb/parts-lookup/chain-bar-sprocket-selector-guide/selector-guide.html
  9. It doesn't work quite that way - the 27RX is better really on the 64" bars and longer - 48" you are better with 27RA [full skip not hyper skip]. If you push hard the skip/hyper skip doesn't bog the chain down. If you push less hard there is not much difference [except you may overheat the powerhead]. It gives you a larger push power window - hence the user friendliness.
  10. A cheeky by 2 get the 3rd [whichever is the cheapest] bar free [we will refund back to you after the order]. On Fri, Nov 2, 2018 at 4:01 PM Chainsawbars <[email protected]> wrote:

  11. Yep - hopefully as Oregon continue to roll out their new chains then they may address the VXL issues - but as said it works really well on the larger saws!
  12. I did a vid on tuning an Echo here - it worked really well [I have very little knowledge in tuning etc] but it was an odd routine to run through - both saws were running rough, slow to pick up... after the tuning both were loverly! It is a D shaped tuning tool you need.. Am not allowed to publish Echo tuning info publicly [no idea why not] but I daresay a PM to me on here may yield info if you need it!
  13. As a thread derail - using the 91vxl on a 390XP milling worked really well - the additional power on a bigger saw got the chain pulling it's way really well down the grain even though the chain angle was the usual 30 degrees.. but it seems a lot of folk have said this chain is way too aggresive for smaller saws.
  14. Yep sure I can get one but it will have to come in next order...
  15. Yep - it's only a concept at the moment - ie. it exists only in my mind! But will post results when I come round to testing it out [but looking at over months rather than weeks].
  16. Hmmm - yep but that the bar might flex a bit is an assumption innit! It might not... Or there may be a simple solution [see below]. Plus this planing technique is not like sawing and if you look at the finish on the planks I've done in the vid they could be sanded straight after. This technique does not leave saw marks. Personally I reckon it'll work really well - as in faster and better than virtually anything else out there - and with some slightly slanted washers for the nose end you'll be able to exert a small amount of pressure to compensate any bar sag - that bar will be ironing board flat. Imagine completely flattening a 4 foot wide plank in say 20 minutes - that would be something!
  17. From what I gather not too much! I think it grips small logs better as has that saw dog on the shaft - but there is not much info on it as it is brand new...
  18. Haha! Absolutely ?
  19. Alright Steve - yep it was so so I would say - my feeling [as always] is that shows need an injection of 'something' rather than churning out more of the same... Hopefully see you at the AA show next year.
  20. We are just getting into this area for doing exactly what you are after - but only at experimental stage. It could be that with rails running either side of a table or bench set up you could then run a big chainsaw mill to flatten large slabs quicker than almost any other method that is out there.... But still playing with the Intersect mill at the moment so it is one step at a time... The principles are there for us to start having a full wood working tool set using chainsaws. So not only can you mill timber in a field - you can shape and cut it as well.
  21. Yep sorry this should be fixed and you're all good to order now:
  22. Yep I sold mine to someone who was desperate and then could not get hold of them! The 30% off applies up to 1st November. Then 20% off until the 12th November. After that dealers will be stocking so we won't be able to do this sort of deal again.
  23. They are great tools - we have missed them for the last 2 years...
  24. Hope the wedding went well and have a good honeymoon! Yep sounds like you got better results from the chain so interested to hear more!
  25. I've seen when Oregon have just tried to dress things up - and this isn't it. I guess time will tell if their new chains really are better or not [PS Oregon own Carlton and have done for many years! - whether they still have the old Carlton machinery making Carlton chain is anyones guess..]
