Hmmm - yep but that the bar might flex a bit is an assumption innit! It might not... Or there may be a simple solution [see below]. Plus this planing technique is not like sawing and if you look at the finish on the planks I've done in the vid they could be sanded straight after. This technique does not leave saw marks. Personally I reckon it'll work really well - as in faster and better than virtually anything else out there - and with some slightly slanted washers for the nose end you'll be able to exert a small amount of pressure to compensate any bar sag - that bar will be ironing board flat. Imagine completely flattening a 4 foot wide plank in say 20 minutes - that would be something!

From what I gather not too much! I think it grips small logs better as has that saw dog on the shaft - but there is not much info on it as it is brand new...

Haha! Absolutely ?

Panther chainsaw milling - post your feedback and pics here :)
Rob D replied to Rob D's topic in Panther Mill UK
Alright Steve - yep it was so so I would say - my feeling [as always] is that shows need an injection of 'something' rather than churning out more of the same... Hopefully see you at the AA show next year. -
We are just getting into this area for doing exactly what you are after - but only at experimental stage. It could be that with rails running either side of a table or bench set up you could then run a big chainsaw mill to flatten large slabs quicker than almost any other method that is out there.... But still playing with the Intersect mill at the moment so it is one step at a time... The principles are there for us to start having a full wood working tool set using chainsaws. So not only can you mill timber in a field - you can shape and cut it as well.

Yep I sold mine to someone who was desperate and then could not get hold of them! The 30% off applies up to 1st November. Then 20% off until the 12th November. After that dealers will be stocking so we won't be able to do this sort of deal again.

They are great tools - we have missed them for the last 2 years...
-
Hope the wedding went well and have a good honeymoon! Yep sounds like you got better results from the chain so interested to hear more!
-
I've seen when Oregon have just tried to dress things up - and this isn't it. I guess time will tell if their new chains really are better or not [PS Oregon own Carlton and have done for many years! - whether they still have the old Carlton machinery making Carlton chain is anyones guess..]
-
All the big main pics at the start of the thread are of the TimberPro.
-
Yep we will be piling on the offers leading up to Chrimbo!
-
They are new but he [Tom Hoff] just said they are more like a cross between the Dual and the Timberjack... I've always found the Dual is a good one to carry around to work where the Timber Jack [and prob the TimberPro] are more for the yard. Other than that I have no more info - the pics are on the website give you a pretty good idea...

Panther Intersect now completed - yes it is a game changer!
Rob D replied to Rob D's topic in Chainsawbars
Yep all on this page Si https://www.chainsawbars.co.uk/product-category/panther-chainsaw-mills/ Yes for most a squared off log would work - and actually be better in many ways. Easier just to screw the rails to the log. By setting the rails higher you can cut all sorts of angles - the implications of the mill are just crazy! -

And a couple more vids here: -
This gave me a chuckle - it looks something like that device that the Lannisters rigged up to take Dragons down in Game of Thrones!

Ok Check this - I did some other boards but imagine - you can hack an interesting lump off a tree - and when dry get it flat with the Intersect! Not to mention the re sawing ability or even sawing wet wood. -
Panther Intersect now completed - yes it is a game changer!
Rob D replied to Rob D's topic in Chainsawbars
Ok am uploading now - few things to bear in mind: I should have had the chainsaw up the other way in the more traditional 'milling' orientation Dry wood seems to dull the chain faster You MUST make sure the timber is screwed or somehow fixed so it is immovable Inside a mask and full helmet + glasses advised Using a big log would be better... [one that you have squared the top and sides] It may be possible to do a large wide plank going up one side and down the other but this is hoping a lot! Other chains may give very different effects If the chain is dull or not tight it can de rail easily Positives are You can turn crazy twisted timber into flat timber pretty easily... Instead of moving a heavy piece of timber you are only moving the chainsaw No need for extra bits and no need for power You can re saw a big thick piece - in fact if you wedge you can cut exact thickness planks from the bottom without adjusting the height -
Ok will try the Peltor Optime III - good review here as well [not the usual review pages splattered all over with advertising!] https://remembereverything.org/my-top-6-noise-blocking-earmuffs-review/

Thanks will have a look at them ?
