  1. That's prob what will end up happening. But to do that within the site you have to then give every item a weight and then get the site to calculate how much for each destination.... For the future that's what I'll be aiming for but for now I opted for the easier option
  2. Thanks - the carving bars are there in the 'more info' bit on pages 4, 5 and 6 of the bar manual pdf.
  3. Yes Husky and Stihl have different bar mountings.... but Husky is part of 'phase 2' planned in 3 months.
  4. It is there in the section on vat and delivery. £25-00 + vat which is what I pay UPS up to 25kg..... not cheap I know... I will send smaller bits via royal mail but this will have to be via a phone order. At this stage to get the site to work out postage by weight was too complicated. From Alaskan mills several orders via royal mail get lost in the post and it's almost impossible to claim back the money. So all website orders will go by signed courier.
  5. Yes bold statements indeed.... time will tell! Try it and see what you think. The bar selectors other websites do have but the sprocket one that also lists rims and bearings is pretty unique and there is also selectors specifically for carving....
  6. Thanks - Yes Husky later as I can't afford the additional stock at the mo....in fact I can't afford alot of anything at the mo! I'm not sure whether to stock Husky bars so will prob be Oregon and cannon only to start with. But will stock all the oregon and stihl chains that fit Huskys.
  7. Looks a nice straight piece. Shame the sap ring is so large though.... still worth doing something with mind you.
  8. Just like to introduce my new website. It's been 18 months in the concept and making. The idea behind it is to have the most advanced selector services and the widest range of bars and chains. As well as being a full e commerce site it also has a load of videos and information. Some of it will be teaching grannie to suck eggs but some I hope should be useful. There are tables to ID what chain you're running Chain ID table PDFs of the different chain types and what they look like in the flesh http://www.chainsawbars.co.uk/media/documents/chain-info.pdf You can make up custom loops Custom chain loops Every single sprocket, bar and chain have been taken in high res i.e. when you go to buy a sprocket not just a pic of any old sprocket but a close up of what the actual one is. In stock I have 97% of everything that's on the website. All the chainsawmills are on there. Certified chainsaw users can have their account unlocked to purchase Stihl accessories. Initially the selector services only work for Stihl but Husky will be added next.
  9. Hmm looks very dangerous and must be taken down immediately....
  10. Nice Josh looked good fun
  11. I'm loving the books - fantastic !
  12. This is a great little saw!!!!!!!!!!!!! Far superior to the MS170 and all the domestic rubbish they make why are they discontinuing? I do hope not the obvious answer that they're not making enough out of them :sneaky2::sneaky2:
  13. Doesn't surprise me - the one in the new forest I used to be a member of the spa.... I knew the bloke who did all the landscaping of the grounds. In the end he got paid 2 days before the court date.... When things broke in the spa used to take up to 2 months to get fixed. The guy who manages the hotels flys around each one in a helicopter..... and has a reputation for never ever paying people.....
  14. Very nice indeed... Wasn't sure initially if the turquoise colour quite goes with the wood but looking again it's already grown on me!
  15. Dunno but it looks pretty cool!
  16. I have the Stihl 192 - a cracking little saw and far far superior to the MS170, MS180 and MS211 and all the rest of those domesticy type saws.

    Bar top

Finished with a polyurethene varnish for hardwearing and easy cleaning. Shouldn't be any movement was in the polytunnel for 3 years and stayed pretty straight even though had not been stickered!

    Bar top

Have been wanting to make a bar top since starting milling as a good sized plank is easy to cut and no joinery involved. Started to use hard dead branchwood more as you can sand it and use it immediately without having to peel bark off etc. These ones are oak.
  19. Very nice looking joins

    Sauno Kiln

An old fridge unit and dehumidifier will be cheaper to set up and give bigger capacity IMO
  21. Saw should be fine although I'm not familiar with the mill... Prob your max bar would be around 36" though...
  22. I think a lot of us are.... At least you know not to do anything else for him. Actions speak louder than words and things like this tell you a lot about people.
  23. They are both very good bars but bear in mind milling with this size bar in big wood is tough on all components compared to using smaller bars. The cannon bars a little lighter than the GB ones and are perhaps a little more flexible. Durability wise they are about the same as each other in my experience.
  24. Softwood will be a doddle to dry after all the oak and elm you've been drying! Do the local sawmills sell kiln dried douglas? I'd be surprised if they do.... In which case you should have a good advantage.
  25. Ta! I thought so
