  1. I see you have made it hear Bob
  2. [ame] [/ame] [ame] [/ame]
  3. Only a fool would design or use a trailer with over-run brakes for forestry or off-road activity ware load is carried on anything but flat ground, if you fail getting up a slope forwards then only the brakes on the towing unit will work as gravity & the auto reverse brakes will take over on the trailer pulling you down the slope.
  4. also the SEE (Small Emplacement Excavator) was in the USA besides the Case MB4/94 at the time, though that are all based on the u900 (406) or u1100 (416)
  5. The only thing I can put it down to is the possibility for reverse drive & factory guarding & some equipment by 3rd party manufactures is available off the self & the relatively smooth underbelly of the tractor. As far as the rest of the tractor goes They are very light on the front end. They have a crap turning circle. They seemingly get stuck easily on cross axel twists. Personally having driven a few, I wouldn’t buy one for forestry work if given the choice BUT there are far worse tractors out there for forestry.
  6. You have had good service from Vermeer UK of a part worth pence. BUT That is a bloody crap design of mounting a pressure sending unit in such a flimsy way given its location & vibration forces Would you have got a new engine FOC if the worst happened due to that part failing?
  7. at 16 with an F category licence you are restricted to tractors <20mph, <2.45m wide, towing a single axel trailer or twin axel close coupled. to drive a Unimog (agricultural) you must be 17 & have your full "B" car licence if it is an agricultural tractor. if it is not an agricultural tractor but is still an agricultural machine (i.e. combine, forage harvester, SP sprayer, forestry forwarder, forestry processor, skidder, etc) then it is 17 with a full "B" car licence for agricultural machine <3500kg, 18 with a full "B" car licence if >3500kg but under <7500kg & you must be 21 with a full "B" car licence if above >7500kg.
  8. It was on the news a week to two ago that some ware like Taiwan or Singapore that they had band the wearing of pyjamas/night close in the street/public as out there it is a statues simble of wealth & living standard - I.e. you are rich enough not to have to go to work & lead a life of leisure!
  9. The problem I see with ALL these so called skills cards etc is they require a photo which is something I don’t like & think in an infringement of my rights and liberties in the fact they wont issue one without, they often wont supply data protection information about who they will supply my information/image to nor will they supply information as to ware in law in the statute books of the UK dose it give them the “right” in law to require an image/photo. Its worth remembering even the police when they arrest and charge you with a crime don’t have the right in law to take your photo for police recalds unlike your finger prints which they may take by force.
  10. no i was thinking of somthing just a little smaler/lighter than the v8 like a 1400hp RR gnome turbine
  11. just need one with powered by a turbine
  12. You better get chewing then , as I have pulled a fully loaded 6 wheeler across flat tarmac in the dry from a standing start with my old LR90 (only 50m), you just need a KERR rope (stretchy) A land rover will get a 38t truck to roll on a flat hard dry surface. The road-railer Land Rover will pull 300 tonnes on railway lines (at very low speed)
  13. Full Metal Jacket was good simply because it was filmed on location in England. The Green Berets (John Wayne) was ok for the time. apocalypse now is good as is Platoon.
  14. I am ready to go
  15. its one of tomtomtom's ones (he sells them) BFF - Handy Trailer/Crane - by tomtomtom BFF - Handy Trailer/Crane - by tomtomtom
  16. They normally mount a gearbox on the trailer which the tractor PTO feeds, then its just a case of matching a tractor gear to a gear in the trailer gearbox so all the wheels as near as dam it correctly bearing in mind it will only be working in slipy conditions. Works best with tractors with a single clutch that works for both drive & pto output
  17. they are both the same Tongue weight (USA) nose weight (UK) or "S" = static vertical load (Stutzlast) Note: the lowest S value counts, i.e. if you trailers towing hitch has an S value of 350kg, your towing ball/pin a S value of 250kg & your vehicles towing hitch mounting has an S value of 150kg, them the maximum S/Tongue weight/nose weight is 150kg
  18. thanks, but all i did was drive the mog, lol
  19. How is yours going Mike? forgot to reply to your PM prior to xmas, doh. did you get over to Germany
  20. yes I have been subbing for ~4 months doing anything but pick up a saw , am normally not out doing "tree" jobs as I am normally in the workshop or on diggers, mog etc, am doing fencing at the moment. yes he dose have a bit of wood! have been meaning to make something to split bigger trunks down for chipping for fuel.
  21. Hear are some images from my phone from 11 days ago, It’s the takedown of 2 trees & the making safe of 1 tree from the up-stream side of a bridge under repair so they can get equipment in to strengthen it after flood damage. didn’t think to take any photos until after the 1st biggest tree was down, as I had got a new phone with a camera, lol! Image 1: the Unimog U1500 I was operating, the remnants of the ivy covered 1st tree are stacked for loading (left) The chipper is on the bridge in the background ware all chippable wood was dropped/pulled/thrown out of the tree, then the trunks were felled back towards the bank individually then grabbed with the crane before the hinge was cut threw then lifted out. Tree 2 can be seen behind the crane kingpost. Image 2: a composite showing tree 2 (left) & tree 3 right, Tree2 has been dismantled and chippable wood was dropped/pulled/thrown out of the tree as per tree 1, Trunks are ready for lifting out onto the bridge. Image 3 & 4: tree 2 all lifted out. All the brash from tree 3 was stacked near tree 2’s stump then grabbed with the crane and lifted out then placed in front of the Unimog on the bridge orientated for chipping into the back of a 7.5t truck, lower branches that could be reached were directly lifted out. Image 5: an inadvertent before & after of tree 3.
  22. hear is my newer td5 90 old lr90
  23. the force ramps up dependent on how quick it stops (distence vs. time), you will note i said 1cm, if it stoped in 10cm it would be ~0.48045 tonne, if it stoped in 1m it would be ~0.048045 tonne or ~48.045kg(kgf), but all the above have a force of ~480.4595798J (also 480.4595798NM) for 10kg @ ~21.9279mph
  24. 10kg would drop ~9.80665m meters in ~1 second from rest ~9.80665m/sec = ~588.399m/min = ~35303.94m/hour or ~35.30394kph = ~21.9279mph at 9.80665m drop the force of 10kg would be ~480.4595798J, if it was to stop in 1cm it would impart a force of ~4.8045 tonnes.
  25. 1000N = 1KN = 98.0665KG e.g. 22KN = 2157.463KG (2157.463KGF) = 2.157463 Tonnes
