  1. some 1824 are V6, some are the OM366 as per mog's
  2. Mercedes Engines for Sale the OM366LA etc is in lots of past road trucks - e.g. ebay & you could go and test drive them to! did you not check your anti-freeze? its that time of year
  3. Thanks for all the replies It seams that clutch is “proprietary/reserved market” part only sold by Arborplant directly, so no agent of Warner Electric Europe can sell them regardless of ware they are in the EU. We have heard back from Arborplant, who continue to blame fitting/operators for the excessive clutch ware/failure rather than them self’s for a design not fit for purpose which is plainly obvious by the failure rate & the amount of continued changes in supplied fitting/burnishing/running-in instructions. There best offer is 25% off a new clutch & free fitting by them - NOTING that after they fit it they do not offer ANY warranty whatsoever agenced it failing - lol I may as well fit it! & as far as the 25% off you can bet they are still making >20% on what they buy them in at given the cost of similar units from Warner I have a good mind to try and get the guy I work for to use the sale of goods act 1979 with reference to 14. Implied terms about quality or fitness (2) Where the seller sells goods in the course of a business, there is an implied term that the goods supplied under the contract are of satisfactory quality. (2A) For the purposes of this Act, goods are of satisfactory quality if they meet the standard that a reasonable person would regard as satisfactory, taking account of any description of the goods, the price (if relevant) and all the other relevant circumstances. (2B) For the purposes of this Act, the quality of goods includes their state and condition and the following (among others) are in appropriate cases aspects of the quality of goods - (a) fitness for all the purposes for which goods of the kind in question are commonly supplied, (b) appearance and finish, © freedom from minor defects, (d) safety, and (e) durability. Anyway I am going to look into the other clutch Warner Electric Europe make that would be compatible/comparable with the original unit or HD units & make modification along with obtaining the OEM’s fitting tolerances & design spec to see if it differs from Arborplant application in the P26 with the inevitable results. Just glad I haven’t fitted any of the other clutches which coincidentally lasted just as long as the original!
  4. A friend I am working for has a 2006 predator P26 stump grinder which has done 253 hours, yesterday the electromagnetic clutch packed in yet agene, is anyone else having the same reoccurring problem with the Warner Electric Europe electromagnetic clutch p/n 6650-452-000-96 as fitted to Predator P26 stump grinder as they are lasting on average only 50 hours before wearing out. So far it has had 5 electromagnetic clutch (1 original & 4 purchased) & now it requires its 6th at £400+ each time + labour + downtime. Also the predator P26 maintenance manual stipulates there should be a gap of 0.25mm to 0.35mm between the relevant clutch surfaces yet later fitting instructions supplied by the manufacture (clutch fitting, burnishing & running in instructions) stipulate 1mm & we have 4 copies of this & the burnishing instructions are different on 3 copy’s showing this is a yet to be resolved problem by the manufacture as to the cause BUT they keep saying its fitting or operator error causing the clutch to fail. To me I think the size of electromagnetic clutch is not fit for purpose given it is just a rotary on-off switch there is no scope for engaging/disengaging it incorrectly as per a manual clutch.
  5. From the point of view of legality of road use above 20mph there are only 2 mainstream modals of “tractor” that are legally capable of exceeding 20mph, They are the Fastrac & the Unimog, NO other conventional tractor is legally allowed to travel faster than 20mph on the UK public highway irrespective what some salesman will tell you. This is because tractors lack suspension on ALL wheels/axels, don’t have direct link steering, don’t have brakes that conform to EU truck standards, lack braking efficiency & don’t meet lighting regulations (>25mph)
  6. EP90 hypoid (GL5) or EP85w/90 Hypoid (GL5) both to MB235.1 spec the engine dont need "Synthetic" engine oil, you want a good oil that is MB228.0 or 228.1 or 228.3 or MB228.5, dont use MB228.31 or 228.51 or MB229.# (car oil spec) MB227.# & MB228.# are truck oils, MB229.# are car oils dont put GL5 EP gear oils in the gearbox or PTO box
  7. As your not far from Denmark & they are a quality welder look out for a migatronic, I have a 250A 240v single phase one which dose stuff from <1mm to >12mm with ease & has a good duty cycle (145A @ 100%, 185A @ 60%, 250A @ 25%) However as they are built well for industrial/trade applications they are a good machine to buy used of e.g. ebay

  9. Very sad I wander if it was caused by low air pressure & prior to starting it was shifted threw the 4th to 5th gear gate then mistakenly left in a gear given you would get no drive in this state until the air pressure had risen above >6.5 to 7 bar ware upon the planetary gear (range change) would be forced into engaging driving the unimog in the relevant direction helped by the injector pump load governor, it would be like as if someone had just suddenly dumped the clutch especially if it was set to a fast idle rpm. The above can catch out even seasoned careful people provided they have made the cardinal mistake of leaving it in gear even though they would get no drive to the wheels at the time (I.e. a false neutral state) I have only mentioned the above in case the investigations into the accident by people who may know nothing about Unimog’s are at a loss to explain how something could happen post starting.
  10. Early Zetros used a Unimog cab (u1000 to u24##) with the bonnet & wings cut off so it was flat fronted then the Zetros bonnet meats up with that. If you look carefully you can see the unimog cab heritage in the Zetros
  11. Last time I got sent on a LANTRA course (NVQ in winter maintenance - I.e. snow ploughing & blowing) they said they required a photo & said it was mandatory, I refused on the grounds that they didn’t have the legal mandate to require a photo of me unlike the legal mandate required for passports or driving licence, I asked if they did have the legal mandate to require a compulsory photo under what law was it granted & what was there data protection statement & who would they supply the information they held on me to, after all even the police don’t have a legal mandate to take a photo of you like they have the legal mandate to take your fingerprints by force when you are arrested! LANTRA were unable to tell me under what law they had a mandate to require a photo & refused to tell me there data protection & who they would supply information they held on me to, needless to say they didn’t get a photo then said that I could have my NVQ without a photo. I hate organisations that just blindly ask for information etc that they don’t need.

  16. photoshop the path of lest resistance to earth would be via the crane also there is not enough light from an ark that size it is not blue enough Etc, etc.
  17. don’t think so, the owner of the tree has the last say in who will work on there tree or which quote they accept, If the next door is footing the bill totally the owner still has the right to refuse to let you on his land simply because he doesn’t like you etc in favour of any contractor he prefers, though he should foot the difference if higher
  18. scrap metal, etc in the modern day Rag & Bone man (junk) were also called tat men back in there day.
  19. is the crankcase compression ok?
  20. pie eater 500NM is only ~50.96kg (~112.31LB) @ 1m or ~101.92kg (~224.62LB) @ 0.5m 1lb = ~4.448N 1kg = ~9.81N i weigh ~903.2067N (~14.5st) (~92.07KG) (~202.94LB) & I have a 1.12m long 3/4 drive ratchet, ergo just by stepping on my ratchet bar with no effort I can do 1011.591504NM (1.01159KNM)
  21. the wheels on my unimog are 500NM, some trucks are 750NM & some higher than that. also remember a dry clean thread torque will have to be higher than a clean oiled thread by ~15% to ~20% right up to 50% more for dry waxes used as thread lube, also the pitch of thread also changes the torque value needed in bolts of the same diameter & grade e.g. M12 x 1.5mm 8.8 grade vs. M12 x 1.25mm 8.8 grade vs. M12 x 1.75mm 8.8 grade (latter mm being the thread pitch)
  22. using the word "Predator" in the name almost guarantees they with be sh!t unless its the "Predator" low speed high torque interlocking shredding/cutting/shearing rollers/drums that they use in water treatment plants for crushing/chipping/shredding/shearing (in one pass) wood/tyres/metal drums/etc/etc or anything else that float or be swept in
  23. they are a bit like RCMP boots & this springs to mind [ame] [/ame]
  24. sorry but they look a bit girly! a few inches taller in black with a thinner heal of the same height they would be good for S&M
  25. if you want a good safety boot (non chainsaw) then try Buckler boots i have had one pear of them for 3 years and i were them evry day, cost ~£48 oh & they guarantee that the upper and sole won’t come apart for the lifetime of the original sole! e.g.
