  1. Husky have their own bar bar plant there are some differences you can visibly see between the bars, Husky rivets are pronounced where Oregon rivets are chamfered. The fact is that saws are improving at such a pace with high torque, faster chain speed which is far harder on bars and chain than 4 years ago. One suggestion is to try Oregon powermatch replaceable nose bars, they have a slightly wider nose which copes better with higher chain speeds, bar/chain/sprocket maintenance needs to step up a gear and be regularly checked as well.
  2. In Dorset you can visit Christchurch Powr tools, along the coast just off the M3 you can visit WGM winchester garden machinery [AKA Forest & Arb] both have climbing kit and are Stihl, Husky and Oregon dealers, see Christchurch Powr Tools - 40 years trading - garden machinery and outdoor power equipment - dorset and hampshire and Welcome to ForestAndArb.com! Depends on which way you drive down to swanage Bring your wellies it's a bit damp at the moment
  3. Any good Dolmar/Makita dealer where are you in the UK ?
  4. IOW trees bending, one of the ferries cancelled [yarmouth Lymington] but it's not raining like yesterday, torrential all day, should be an eventful trip home later on.
  5. techni 280, nylium or duoline all from Oregon, one tip is to hydrate line keep wet before use as polymers dry out hence go brittle and snap quicker than when normal. Or try techniblade using a jet fit head which also takes any line as well
  6. Blount Inc produce Oregon chain and Carlton chain, they have just stopped making Windsor chain and Chipmaster chain these are no longer available except whats left in the marketplace. Sarp was also made as a special label in Europe. The difference between them is Oregon chain is a full feature chain with patent features Lubri-link that keep chain oil moving around the bar rail and sprocket nose better Lubri-well designed to trap chain oil on the tie straps to give extra lubrication across the chain. Vibe-ban a chamfer off the heel of the cutters that reduces vibration And we use a patended Steel to make our Oregon chain. Quick history lesson Joe Cox invented modern day saw chain from copying the wood larvea beetle he started Oregon chain in 1946. Carlton chain is manufactured in Portland in a different factory, i was there in Jan 2010, the production method is different and the chain components do not have the features of Oregon chain as described earlier. Both chains can be sharpened to give great performance, having used both, sold both and made a living from both. Hope this clears that up, the dealers description was that of the old technology v the new technology i.e the new X ground Oregon chains are faster cutting. Les
  7. i have some dvd's and cd's you can borrow, you only had to ask ! back down your way in a couple of weeks
  8. Hi this is classic vapor lock, your saw runs fine from cold and then when hot doesn't like starting, the fuel mix is vaporising before the cylinder and forming gas lock. The reason this happens is that when you run the saw the flywheel fan flows cool air around the cylinder optimising running temperature, when you stop the temperature goes up hence why the fuel left in the carb gets heated up to vapor. Ways to get around this are Add fuel additive to your petrol prior to adding the oil mix ensure you use a quality two stroke oil and be generous not mean buy the better unleaded fuel keep your saw clean use an airline to blow out all the sawdust and chippings from around the cylinder head etc try starting the saw with the throttle full on [apply chain brake first] this can be done on the ground Keep chain sharp, depth guages correct and tensioned and ensure the chain oil is getting thru to lubricate as this is another heat source if wrong. Several years back this was a problem for a lot of manufacturers. Good luck and be safe
  9. i've got one we used for the Arbtalk tug o war at jonesies show pm me and we can meet up i'm in Kent as well Les

  13. Quite simply i've been instructed to refrain from publishing my opinion on the web regarding the products related to my employer. so anything not connected i'm ok, this has thinned it out a lot for me. So now you know why i haven't replied to many threads where i normally would have had a comment.
  14. so who would have a go at this ?

  19. Have suffered the same, tried injections, straps, physio and then went to a registered GP who does acupuncture, 10 sessions later and much better. And you don't feel any pain it almost becomes addictive and your well being increases. Combined with rest and the concerted effort of not tight gripping and twisting where ever possible aids recovery. I couldn't squeeze the fuel pump knozzle in my right hand for months it was that bad.
  20. Has anyone seen this ? Danny MacAskill - "Way Back Home" - YouTube
  21. So in 2012 we should see the reigning Tug of war champions in action defending their title and at the same time raising money for charity, how about a few more ideas for the shows. What about Blower football with teams of 5 with blowers and a beachball, with no contact and 5 minute matches ? any takers. We could have a lot of fun at several Arb shows and at the same time raise some money, who knows maybe the APF would give an arena slot over for the games each day, to add to Joneses show's games. Your ideas please Could we get a tank of water and let people try log rolling, now that would be funny !
  22. .....
  23. Got anymore like this ?
  24. You are right Megatron A074 mount, i misread the Oregon book section. The D025 fits the 024,026 MS261.
  25. Fit with Oregon chain 95VPX062E 15" .325 050 low profile narrow kerf chain, smooth fast and less vibration just ask those on here who use it on 026's MS260's and fit Bar 150MPGD025 15" .325 050 Then you will see your MS250 cut faster than ever due to less resistance in the cut. you can go 16" with a 95VPX067E chain and 160MPGD025 bar Any MS240, 250 and 260/261 will benefit from this conversion and you can use your original .325 sprocket Les
