  1. Any pics of the Dubarry stand ?
  2. were London planes planted to filter smog ? and why do you need a face mask on during parts of the year when working on them. I've heard people tell of chippers having a wad of hairtype follicles stuck to the chutes after a lot of plane brash.
  3. come on show us the tane mahuta in waipoua and fiordland forest areas in NZ
  4. so come Arbtalkers so us the pics of the best treescapes in your area old and new !

  7. Covehithe Suffolk These are real just taken over by the advance of the sea, there are old photo's with many trees still standing.
  8. Any moderator know where this thread goes as it doesn't appear on todays posts or in current pages ? Les
  9. 731 trees were planted in 1835, some have recently had to be felled to prevent disease from spreading, anyone know who the creator was ?
  10. Last week during the trip to Porc we struck up a conversation about great trees and treescapes. Many of these were planted by people who's vision we now enjoy but who never got to see their own creation after the early stages. So to start a thread show some great treescapes Here's Kingston Lacey Beech avenue nr Wimborne in Dorset
  11. FR Jones show is at Kingswood training centre in Back lane Shipbourne nr Tonbridge Kent. From Tonbridge take the road to Borough green and Igtham you will see the posters on the side of the road. Todays first prize went to the boys from the north in a well contended competition, if you have a few team members free bring them along tomorrow as there is one team with huge combined weight entered for Sat, so technique will be needed as was shown today.
  12. As i said get a Stihl bar E031 mount and drill the oil holes, it's a simple job. In the Oregon book we list your saw as a smaller mount, does the back plate have a 14mm ridge imbetween the studs ?
  13. It depends on how many entries per day and it will fit in with the event programme, i estimate late morning or early afternoon for each session but Justin and Richard have the plan in hand.
  14. Picked up the trophys today as i have had them engraved etc and they are really worth winning. These will be on display at the show on the Oregon stand and the Arbtalk stand. If you can help raise money for a good cause and have some fun by taking part please make the effort to join a team of 5 and enter the tug of war. It's only £2.00 each £10.00 per team. The local press are going to attend so this is a good opportunity to give the image of the pro Arborist a boost. See you at the show PS Who will get the best picture of a tug of war team in action at the show ?
  15. Hi all i took group to see the great wooden long house creation and the enormous tree at Penshurst a few years back which resulted in some good photos and an editorial published in F&B about the place. Well Mike Westphall the owner has kindly invited us back to see how things have developed on the wooden building and as i posted on here those who may seek a rec climb venue this place has a lot to offer. So for those interested we will leave in convoy from Jonesies show around 6pm tomorrow [Friday 15th] for a 10 minute drive to have a look then return back to the show site for 7.15 in time for grub and suitable refreshments. I know Stephen Blair missed this last time and after seeing the photo's said he wished he'd gone.
  16. contact Echo inc in the USA they will sort out your parts for you they are the factory not a distributor. Echo/Shindaiwa need to be in the UK themselves.
  17. They are busy setting up the show this week so i presume there is only skeleton staff back at the works. PM Justin on here
  18. Mick you going to Jonesies ? have you got internet hassle ? as you've been quiet on Arbtalk.

See you at the show, and i hope you will enter with a team in the tug of war

  19. Hi you say the saw has a 14mm slot mount which is a D033 oregon mount, i know Rob Dyer on here has a good secondhand Dolmar bar and he's close to you at Lymington. You can also make a Stihl E031 mount fit by drilling the oil way hole to match as the slot size is the same from their 088, 084, 880 etc. I also know of two dealers with 37" Dolmar bars in stock if interested, we don't bring these into Europe i'm afraid. PM me if interested. Les Area Mgr Oregon Cutting Systems Division
  20. Nice one ! there will be loads of individuals who can join up top make some teams up, after all this is as much of a industry team event with a few laughs to help raise a few quid and take part, not everyone will be in it to win it. There will be a registration form at the Arbtalk stand you can add your name and pay your two pounds as an individual and join others. I'd just love to see a team of 5 strong skinny people beat a team of 5 large people using technique. Tug of war is actually a pushing with the legs together and stepping backwards discipline, arms should be out front with an under arm grip and you hold strain and lean back together, never wrap a rope around your arm or waist, and by the way one of the rules is no swearing. Please encourage all you know to take part
  21. looks like 6 teams already to enter, if we can make 10 teams over the two days it would be great, or more.
  22. After Jonesies show on the Friday i will be taking a few to see the development of the wooden long house at Porc in Penshurst at around 5.30pm for about an hour, the owner Mike has said it could be a venue for a rec climb, it has a camping ground, car park, toilets and plenty of big trees. It also could be an ideal place for a Zip line as it has a deep bowl in the woods. I'm not a climber but if you meet up at the show you can have a look and get to meet Mike
