  1. Hi I have aquired a Dolmar 166 which is for sale, i can't get it listed on the classifieds so will pledge £10.00 to Arbtalk on completion of the sale if thats ok with the Mods/Steve 118cc's of classic power with a 42"bar needs a new chain and nearly new 60" bar and 59L chain nearly new. Runs well, not done a great lot of work by the look of it, good starter, compression good and chainbrake works. Serious offers only over £500.00 delivery in South can be free if i'm in your area or parcelforce recorded delivery at cost across the UK mainland. Bought as seen no guarantee and no returns PM me for details Les
  2. Denis Wilson of Glenavy will help you, tell them Les sent you
  3. this uses a K153 mount so 15" = 158SLHK153 [56 drive link 73LPX056E chain] 18" = 188SLHK153 [73LPX064E] These bars are both in stock so any Oregon dealer can supply them for you
  4. "which is to maintain the relatively high profit margin of their resellers." Not in the UK mate, in my 31 years in the sales side of the chainsaw industry the dealers margin has dropped over the last 20 years. We have lost many good dealerships who can't sustain a business anymore and the end user has never had it so good. Service levels also need to move inline with the going rate as well as costs have soared and the dealers who have trained skilled mechanics find it near impossible to get the rates car mechanics etc get yet they do much the same job. Next time any dealer doesn't have the parts in stock when you want them remember the margin he would have made for the machinery would have bought the parts in a higher quantity. Prices across Europe vary quite a bit as well.
  5. BOB for the 33rd time and it's still brilliant

  8. Saw these during a visit to Northern Trees on the outskirts of Belfast last week, friendly people and nice set up there.
  9. Anyone sell woodchip and sawdust to festivals ?
  10. Did anyone hear on the radio last week the feature about a guy who has been recording tree sounds with specialist equipment ? They played some eerie sounds and explained that some are the tree movement, some are the water and air mixing in the xylem [forgive the spelling] and he was to be in Halden Forest in Devon this week recording more. They went on to say how he has travelled the world recording trees and the Eucalyptus is the most vocal ! Another strange point was some ancient sounds can be somehow held in the wood and extracted later.

  14. For all those in NI there is a show at Denis Wilson's of Glenavy on Tuesday 6th September. Large machinery displays, full range of accessories and PPE and the largest collection of tools to treat your tool box. Off A26 Imbetween J9 off the M1 motorway and the Belfast International Airport, open all day til late.
  15. If you don't repair it sell the chassis and parts to Neil at the Garden machine centre station rd Robertsbridge E Sussex as he needs a donor saw for parts i'm sure it's worth about £25.00- £35.00 to him. plus carriage. As for repair a Titan 70 running well will earn you a few quid more than the £90 asked for so you weigh that up, personally i would do it. Or put the money towards another saw, back in the 80's the Titan 70 retailed for about £300 which was a lot then, i used to have 03 serial no as my demo saw, wicked with a 15" bar on it ! It was designed by Pino Todderi whose father was a Moto Guzzi designer and invited us to their factory in Lake Como one year.
  16. Countries and indeed continents are still paying the debts from the last 200 years of industrial revolution, war, treaties and much more, If your eutopian concept of don't spend more than you bring in was a realisation we would all be in better place but more like 3-4 generations might just make an impact. I.E just how many Trillions are the USA in debt ? and how much of the current available monies are flowing in and out of China ? This leads to an interesting point Do you invest in the best equipment to get the long term benefit and long term low cost ownership or struggle with getting by with secondhand/old machinery ? Start ups and part time landscapers accepted. And if overheads continue to rise how many will use formula's to analyse true hourly rates and will attempt to make busy with all available work from other areas of Hort/Arb/Agri cutting, landscape, spraying, leaf collection etc to diverse ? A relative of mine recently got two quotes from tree surgeons to reduce a small tree one was £300.00 the other £240.00 a third quote from a gardening company who was landscaping 3 doors down was for £180.00, they got the job and whilst working from Ladders in the tree told my relative the tree was rotten and should be felled which they could do for a further £150.00. They were there 2 hours[it was only a small tree] cleaned up afterwards and pocketed £330.00 and went back to the landscape job for the rest of the day. So they took more money, performed the service and maximised the opportunity to diverse from their original job. They also had decent company clothing and a nice sign written truck so they looked good despite working from ladders.
