  1. I don't even live that close to the real 'Cronx' (Croydon). FTR and to get back on topic, I use Trust for my commercial policy, but only got a good deal after they requested a copy of A.N.Other companies quote. Then somehow they dropped it by about 400 quid. Mmmm...!
  2. Sickness cover is a good thing..? As a self employed person it is essential to cover for the unexpected. One of the benefits of being self employed is to be able to offset cost of running the business against the profit. Buying plant or investing in your business can reduce the amount of tax owed but it looks like you have had a bad year profit wise. How do others get around this? I mean, if I had to claim on my policy right now, they would request a copy of my last Tax return. Through investment in the company or a clued up accountant, my profit was down considerably from previous years. Therefore all the last few years of payment will be null and void as they will pay out based on the most recent figures. My head hurts trying to work this one out...? Any ideas?
  3. Refused to renew... they wouldn't even touch me in the first place. Apparently they don't cover 'City Farms'. Just tried Direct Line - 2017.18p. Be giving them a rather wide swerve then!
  4. You lot don't know how lucky you are... Anything under a grand is good for my area, under 600 and I'd bite their arms off.
  5. I posted this last year I think. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYZyvNp7V_8]ropewalker.mp4 - YouTube[/ame] not the best quality but hey ho.
  6. Alright mate. Glad your doing ok out there... how is the pace compared to the UK? I a pretty busy at the moment. Was running about 6 weeks booked in advance upto xmas but slowed off a bit after. Keeping busy 5 or 6 days a week still though.

    You spoken to Baker recently?

  7. All the people who are dissing ART rg's, have you considered the potential problems with advertising as fits all ropes upto 13 mm (except Marlow). The problem is the size of the splice not the design of the cocoon. Marlow ropes, therein lies the problem IMO.
  8. No point in blunting the chain on the third cut either though... Horses for courses.
  9. I had a friend, native Zimbabwean. She studied here and then worked for a bit then was threatens with deportation after nearly 12 years IIRC. She ended up leaving work and her studies to be a barrister. She ended up going back to teacher training college and did a pgce and then taught for a couple of years. She has since married and is now back working within the legal field. I know this doesn't directly help but it is similar to the sponsorship thing as at the time there was a shortage of teachers.
  10. You boys must live a life of leisure. Most of us are at work mid week.
  11. Only his wallet... But even that will have to be lifted with the loader soon!
  12. Cheers. I was meant to do the dead beach with a crane and climb for another contractor. Price agreed, road closure organised, crane booked and timber organised to be off site. Then 2 days before the customer got cold fee and cancelled it. That was about 2 months ago. Last week I was told I had a fun day waiting for me with another guy I graft for. Different approach with the Mewp but it all worked out well.
  13. Awww! You are so modest!
  14. Had a 30m skylift in today to dismantle a stone dead (3 years) Beech tree. Cut and chucked everything up to 020 size the rigged out the rest of the day. Timber lorry turned up late afternoon to help cleanup. Last picture is how I left it for the boy to finish off tomorrow.
  15. Nice work and vid, Tim.
  16. :thumbup1:
  17. I agree, once you get your head around the DB splice then they are far simpler and a lot less effort than the 16 strand.
  18. Awesome Stu, I would love to ride that course if it didn't scare the bejeezuz outta me!
  19. My family are all from that area. Gt Ayton etc. if you don't get a response then look up Yorkshireman on here. He is based around the other side of Guisborough. I would have thought Iain would have been able to help you.
  20. To Pedro, how do you think the fried rice was made in the first place? Most of the time fried rice is just reheated boiled rice. I think the fast food industry would have fallen on its butt if everyone who ate reheated rice got ill. Rice is fine reheated, provided you dont just warm it. Yes the bacteria can be released if not heated correctly. In fact it is good practice if you like that type of take away and your stools to be solid, to reheat the fried rice in a Microwave to piping levels before you eat it.
  21. I hate rj'ing trees mate... I think I am fully booked that day, whenever it is.
  22. Working today with Michael Stockbridge esq. conny topping and beech reduction. Before and after of Beech. Oh, and a pic of Mick looking confused using an iPhone 4.
  23. Climbing today for Ben Ballard. Dismantled the first 2 stems and then came down for a brew and to sort out the rigging kit for the back leaning stem. From the floor it looked like it would go, so I went back up and attached a sling and winch cable. Ben did the fell, I took the pic and film. Nice one and cheers Ben for a good day. 24. If mine was that cheap I'd snap their arms off. Don't live up to the Yorkshire stereotype of deep pockets and short arms. Seriously though I think mine was around the 1100 mark. Some of the other quotes were in the region of 4500.
  25. Fancy it..? BBC News - Dead whale found by dog walkers on Kent beach
