  1. Excellent vids, both of them. Thanks for taking the time to put them up and sharing. Awesome.

  3. Cheers for the heads up. One of the guys I work for was knocked last week. During a stormy night, they cleared him of all power tools and a number of climbing kits. They also did another tree surgeon who shares the yard.

  6. A couple of pics from February this year. Knackered beech dismantle. Most of the tree was cut and chucked but I rigged the timber.
  7. Same here Stevie. I am gonna sleep in the spare room tonight to see if I can sleep through. Got a busy day tomorrow.
  8. Managed to find and post the correct link to vid.
  9. Those mine arb trucks are great on the right job. One of the firms I climb for has had one for about a year. [ame] [/ame] [ame] [/ame]
  10. How much sleep do I get? Not enough. Currently getting woken up about 3-4 times a night thanks to a teething toddler.
  11. I generally use the file handle to de-take the excess chrome off, sorry cannot spell de burr either.
  12. Might try the golf ball handle tip. Cheers, Paul. I also use a Maccy "d"s straw as a cover for the files. Stops them rubbing together and dulling.
  13. Or just use a hand file.
  14. Congratulations. Now the fun begins!
  15. My good news is I have a day off tomorrow. Had a day on a golf course today doing a variety of work. Last job was to clean up about 5 leaders that were left on a large beech tree. The rest of the tree was on the deck, peeled off due to it being well knackered. Knocked off some large bits, BOOM. Left it about 50 odd foot monolith. A good buzz and a few puckered arsehole moments but all done. Now day off tomorrow as it is my birthday.
  16. Regardless of the physics of the matter. Once the cutter is hardened due to stone or a grinder it will be extremely difficult to put an edge on it with a hand file...
  17. Start to worry if jobs you have applied and permissions granted for works are viewable over the internet. The was a company around here who used to knock on jobs where planning permission had been applied and granted. They wood turn up saying .... had sent them and could they crack on.
  18. Sorry Carl, you lost me there?
  19. I thought the signs were there so some knucklehead wouldn't damage the baggage rack with their swede.
  20. My mate stupidly had his foot on a log cross cutting. His 441 skidded across the log went straight through his boots and toes. Doing tendons and soft tissue damage and resulted in about 6 weeks off work. So much for chainsaw protection. Simple thing is don't cut near your feet or at least be aware of the forces that are going on around the chain, bar, wood etc.
  21. Ahh, cheers Peter. Is that why the one in John's pic has a red braid in it whereas the the 8mm doesn't?
  22. is that beeline john? I thought beeline had a locking brummel splice on the core and then you dipped it in something to keep together. What splice is that, DB?
  23. lonelier..? What sort of word is that?
  24. Haha... Loving the last shot. A moment the travelling Arb had had enough...
  25. I never ask if there is a tpo on such and such tree... you are inviting a visit from the tree officer to said premises. I ask if there are any planning constraints at the property. If not, then crack on and get it done.
