  1. I use the ART ball that came with my first ropeguide. I really can't believe I haven't lost it yet! I understand what you mean though about the larger balls having to be shaved down. I hate shaved balls, too itchy for me.
  2. With ring method, it is attached to the climbing line in a couple of ways, same as the ball retrieval method. (Apart from mine as it is permanently hitched to the spliced eye. Retrieval is the same apart from one thing, the ring may enter the pully horizontally and it wider than the two sides of the pully. So it could get stuck. A ball is the same diameter all round and which ever way it enters the pully it will exit. I think I will stick to the ball method. Never tried the double snapper but don't really get my pulley saver stuck that often. The key is in the placement and crotch selection. I like a nice wide crotch, bit like my women!
  3. Right I have looked at the description. How is the ring any different to a retrieval ball? It obviously is different but looks like it retrieves in an identical fashion. How or why is it so good?
  4. Near there.
  5. Just thinking the same, is Arbboy a reincarnation of Butler?
  6. I once heated the needle and burned through the nail. The pop and squirt as it went through was all most as you describe... Almost.
  7. .....
  8. Looked like he was riding the tree down. Using the 201t as a cowboy hat like at the rodeo!
  9. Recent watched man on fire with Denzel Washington. Brilliant film a bit like Taken. Taken. Also watched rise and fall of a foot soldier. Really good but maybe not everyone's cup of tea. Love, honour and obey. Really funny but pretty dark. Also I have just watched, Deeper and Further. The first 2 parts of the Jeremy Jones trilogy of snowboarding documentaries. He has been nominated for the Nat geo explorer of the year for these films. Takes free riding to a whole new level and is a must for anyone who loves the mountains and hiking... Truely awesome!
  10. How's that made tommy. 8mm long eye to eye doubled over then shrink wrapped?
  11. Seller has 0 feedback. Maybe they are suss or maybe he has purchased a job lot and wants to shift them. The Hero2 is an older model with 2 newer versions available.
  12. Go for it John, if that is what you want. I can tell you from experience that cutting trees or looking at them in your case is a lot easier than looking after toddlers. I am always exhausted when I have the kids for a day or two. It is hard graft but in a different way. More mentally tiring for me anyway. Good luck with it mate.
  13. Kids can also be stressful mate, I should know I have 2 young boys. Cute kid mate, sanity is everything, get yourself sorted for all of your sakes.
  14. The misses said to me "I bet you can't go one day without cracking a joke about my periods" "You're on!" I said.
  15. Good stuff, looks like a typical Northern boy chilling before a popping oot on a Saturday neet in winter!
  16. That will teach you not to post in tree world then, eh?
  17. Dave, reall sorry about that one... Oops! It was just a p take I didn't realise that the URL actually went to a site of that content! Ill make sure to check next time.
  18. Maybe he is a rope geek and has in his favourites?
  19. Here is one from a thread I posted a month or so ago. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vjvqIraVp0&feature=player_embedded]Oak Removal Time Lapse Trinity School - YouTube[/ame]
  20. Good stuff mate. I reread my post and it may have come over as a bit sharp. Not my intention.
  21. Bloody hell mate. Rochester to Dartford! Get on the bus.
  22. The original django is an awesome spaghetti western. Looking forward to seeing unchained.
  23. This is a thread I posted years ago, with pics of the tower crane I described in an earlier post. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/picture-forum/2206-crane-pics.html Crane all the way.
  24. I have just returned from Morzine, where it has been dumping for the last 6 days with more to come. Just do a search on the net for chalet lets in the Alps. Plenty to choose from, just give the estate agents a call. As for cheap, I'd say, good luck on that one. Nothing in the Alps is cheap!
  25. How would ascending with it be tricky? It operates exactly the same as a friction hitch and hitchclimber style setup.
