  1. I did an advanced rigging workshop ran by the AA about 5 or 6 years ago. It was a day course and cost about 35 quid iirc. Well worth it if one is being run in your area but no cert is offered. Sorry, not done a treevolution course, but I did the cs41 ticket a few years back with Kingswood and we covered pretty much the same stuff as the advanced course. The good think about Richard is he will try and tailor the content to the level of the candidates. Do you already have cs41?
  2. Yup, sweet as a sweet thing!
  3. Just come in and it's doing this right about now...
  4. I have never shown any qualification to buy any saw. I have heard rumours but never been asked.
  5. I saw similar mate. In the park with the kids with the sun setting behind a row of large London Planes. (Pity about the 2 Tower block in the view though!)
  6. I would buy whatever length rope suits the trees you do. If you have 20m rope already, get a 45m, as stated earlier go for a thinner diameter. I climb on NE tachyon in varying lengths. I also have a 45 metre Imori which has been in a ropebag in my workshop for about a year. As for splice or tieing a knot. Most things have been covered apart from the fact that a splice retains more of the strength of the rope than a bowline for example. I cannot remember the figures exactly but a splice is significantly stronger than a bowline or other termination knot.
  7. now that is a silky cut...
  8. What would you have used?
  9. did a search but not sure they are coming up with the right ones. I found them for 150 but it says trainer in the description. That is 5 quid more than he Crestas. Being a tight ersed Northerner, I went for the Crestas at 145. Edit: there you go mate. Salewa MS MTN TRAINER MID GTX - Hiking Boots - black - Zalando.co.uk are these them? or these [ame]http://www.amazon.co.uk/SALEWA-MTN-TRAINER-charcoal-limeade/dp/B008YFQUXO[/ame]
  10. I think that is Cowboy Dave. The job was one of RBtrees jobs IIRC.
  11. Peter you have some endurance mate. My back and arse is sore after only 8 minutes of the missus going at it with a cat'o'nine tails.
  12. It'll go better with Tweed than the mustard, baby poo colour of your Crodas.
  13. You still after a pair even though 2 people have said they fall off your feet sharpish. Stuart Sports - 015394 43001 - They had quite a few pairs of Crestas in in September when I got mine. Might be worth a call. Nod also said he may be getting some in November. I havent spoken to him about them recently though. Hope this helps.
  14. Paul, this was posted in the Milling forum, I started another thread, thought you might get a bite. I hope you don't mind me posting it here Rob. Cheers Rich. Hi Rich, Sorry just spotted this thread-Your mate is just a few miles from me, I'm pretty busy with work at the moment and I'm not a milling pro by any means but I can probably help him out- you can give him my number- 01825 872 495/07542603620 Rob
  15. I know that someone recommended you in the other thread. Just trying to bump it to see if anyone else is out there. And yes I am impatient, the PM hasnt arrived yet.!!! Edit, PM arrived, your a goodun!
  16. There was a thread in the climbers talk about the Crestas so a bargain could be had. I am sure you'll like them though mate.
  17. Bump. Anyone interested? Someone must be able to help.
  18. There are people out there begging for work, hard times and all that. I guess no one in that area wants work.
  19. I actually ordered a pair from the outdoor warehouse only to have him email me the next day - not in my size. I ended up speaking to the uk importer and asked who had the last batch of them. It was a company in Windermere. Saved myself over 50 quid as they were knocking them out for 145 plus p&p.
  20. Pretty well mate. I don't wear them everyday to climb in by have done a few large rj's in them and grippy is a word I'd use. John Shutler has had a pair for quite a while and would be better to comment on the longevity. Where did you get them from?
  21. I don't think you be disappointed mate with the crestas. They are snug but get conifer every day. My only gripe is that the ankle is a bit lower than my airstreams which aids movement. In my case I had a bit of a fall and damaged the ligaments in my left ankle about 7-8 months ago. It's getting better but still aches a bit pruning in these boots. Especially after a long day.
  22. An old friend of mine needs a hand milling some Beech stems in East Sussex. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/49959-alaskan-mill-reqd-east-sussex-cut-table-top.html Can anyone help pls?
  23. Alright Paul, hopefully someone will get back to you. Catch you soon, good luck.
  24. Will the outfit you work for allow that? Makes sense if they do and makes you more marketable. Good luck with the search for a course.
