I use one of the Lyon 20L rope bags. Great for 50 metres of Tachyon. Can't fit harness in though. I also have a Gelert 90L bag for harness and everything else. About 35 quid but I appreciate it might be a bit bigger than what you looking for. http://www.abacus-ise.co.uk/shop/ropebag-c-39.html

Yeah they cope by adding layers of clothing and workIng accordingly. Like wise in the UK if the weather is as changeable as it has been and you get caught out wearing thermals on the wrong day. Which, incidentally I often do. Take a layer of and abracadabra, almost instantly cooler. Your sincerely, David Blaine.

No worries mate. I think the sun has gone to people heads;). Just seems in times of quietness everyone starts moaning about people under cutting them, lack of work etc. As soon as the sun comes out a bit. Yeah I agree it's hot compared with what we have been used to... Along come the thread about heatstroke etc. I could understand it more if it was actually hot. What we have experienced I. The last week or so is nothing compared to what tree workers could experience in other part with hotter climes. Dudes in Oz and the US seem to manage so howcome we can't after 25 degree heat?

Berks? Oh, cheers! Yeah, use your common sense, drink plenty and do what you need to. It isnt even that hot yet? What are you actually gonna do if it actually get very hotter? The answer is easy, drink more water, take more rests. Not difficult to fathom out. Maybe if people can't work that out for themselves then i would suggest you should start a thread on how to keep cool. Thanks for the 'berk' comments. They are really helping my inferiority complex.

Never thought of twisting the hitch. Or you could tie the hitch in the way I described and it is usually hunky dorry.

The swivel will not solve the twisting, only make it worse. Adam, for the vt try tying the hitch having the first wrap as it comes down to form the braid. Instead of tieing it over the top put it under the braid and then under on the next wrap etc. I find it solved the twisting issue from the hitch.

One of the guys I work a bit with has one but doesn't use it. He has gone back to his steel flipline for everyday work as he doesn't want to damage 150 quids worth of kit. Why bother buying it if your not gonna use it.

So how do you trim your rope and seal it? Holding a lighter to singe a loose braid is not going to do that much damage to the structural integrity of the rope IMO.

May well do the same Carl. I have a couple of the petzl bits and then some spare shrink wrap. I would have thought that would keep it taught enough.

Not a bad job, but if I am to be critical. I think he needs to get out a bit further and thin and take less out of the middle. The limbs over the chimney look a bit lion tailed to me. My first boss would have given me a bollocking for that and mad me step over a few and trim the end. I haven't seen the job and maybe there was a lack of growth points closer into the stem hence the finished look. Because I havent seen it and your customer is happy then i'll say good job. My lions tail comments are based on the photo's alone.
