  1. Mine is 24" eye to eye. OP 8 mm tied with 3 wraps and 2 braids. But that is on tachyon so thinner than your line. Works great.
  2. Sounds bad mate. I had to spend a night and day in hospital about 2 weeks ago. Nothing as serious as yourself but it still did me in all the same. Your condition sounds complicated. I am sure you are in the best place possible though. If you don't mind me asking, how did you diagnose the condition? All the best.
  3. I used compare the meerkat website. In the end though I went with Trust as they price matched and it was easier to renew than go afresh somewhere else.
  4. Just renewed mine Robert through Trust. 10 plate Navara, DC, Tekna - 1210. GBP 8 years No claims. Cheapest by a country mile. I am in SE London though.
  5. You may be good with the engine side of things Steve but you have a lot to learn on this wood cutting lark..! You forgot to put the chain on.!!!
  6. Great work Drew. Looked like a day to remember. I did a day a couple of years ago for Mick Stockbridge out in Kent. The RAF were practicing manoeuvres with a Chinook chopper. Touching down for about 45 second in a field next to the site I was in. They then took off again and the down wash from the rather large 2 sets or rotor blades was pretty noticable. I did gesture, and it would have been great if they could have picked a couple of lumps of poplar somewhere and accidentally lost it. Alas, they didn't help us out.
  7. Great, can't wait to see some of your fellin and dismantling pictures. Only kidding mate, good luck to you whereever that path may lead.
  8. I am not sure I am getting this...? Great to be innovative and everything but how are the 2 methods any different from a sling and a krab?
  9. I just tried a bit on Thursday as the guy I was working for asked me to set his VT back up. I grabbed a bit and quickly tied it then went up the tree. Bingo, maybe I was just lucky! Or it could just have seemed super smooth as I had just been using a bit of spliced e2e AP. I always find this a bit grabby if you have been sat on your hitch for a while. The combo with fishermans was perfect.
  10. Which one was Clementine? The Renault?
  11. Mine tends when I am about 15-20 foot off the floor. Sometimes I have to give it a bit of encouragement to get going but all in all a great hitch. Tied 3wrap 2 braid and end to end is 24 inches long. At the moment, i am using a bit of the green OP, but usually the AP or regular OP. This works well on Tachyon, Imori and Poison HIvy. Sometimes, lock or spider users get on my tits a bit going on about self tending... who cares. use what you want, are comforable and confident with. My hitch is nice a flowing and if I have to touch it to set it then big deal. This process is programmed in to the memory and really only takes a second. However, this is the thing that lock/spider users seem to be so smug about. I bet it takes longer at the start of a day to thread the length of climbing line though a spider jack than it does setting a hitch for a whole days climbing. Rant over.
  12. The waldlaufer are good boots. It come apart a little quicker than the airstream. Still a good boot though and come to think of it I got about 20 month wear outta them. Tht was about 6 years ago. A few of the guys I work with have them and they have come to but a lot sooner than mine did all those moons ago.
  13. I Stumbled upon this from a friends Fbook link. Thought I would stick it here. Beware, it is only wood but be warned it is a bit graphic. Sexy Trees | Artsy Swag
  14. Some people just take the obsession with the Green Oval a little too far.
  15. Lesson learned, must pay more attention next time.
  16. Nicely done on the RJ mate.
  17. I had about 2 weeks off work and spent 40 hours in hospital on an IV when I tried it on a London Plane.
  18. I have had 2 pairs so far and will be getting another. My first pair lasted about 22 months. My second pair were purchased 2 years ago at Capel's celebration of trees. For some reason, I wore the right sole out long before the left. The second pair wore out the other way. So I now have an absolutely knackered pair and a pair with reasonable soles.
  19. I think the guy is just a tight ersed ex farmer, who resents spending money on anything. The comparision of buying in his own wood and then admitting the transportation issues but not mentioning the cost just shows he is an oaf. I would persue the route of getting the editor to right a letter as said by worcwuss.
  20. Nice one Robert.
  21. Cheers mate. Another of the butt. Dave the groundie is a lump at about 6'3".
  22. A couple of pics from an Oak dismantle earlier this week. Had a 40t crane on site with a couple of grab lorries for timber. Aaronmj did the crown and I did the stem.
  23. Martyn, all you seem to do is go on and on about how tree work is detrimental to the body. Yes we know it is. You seem like a keen lad on the fitness front, training etc. You have either got to find a way of getting around it by working smarter or harder. Or why not give it up? As that is what your body seems to be saying. Unfortunately mate, you got to like it or lump it.
  24. About the same mpg as a Transit, so I was led to believe. But then it was one of the top end ones. Send Aaronmj a PM. He has one and will be able to give you first hand info.
  25. The width of the position works different areas of the chest. Personally I nearly always do a close pressup, shoulder width and on my knuckles. The knuckles thing is force of habit from damaging my wrists a few times Snowboarding and boxing/Muay Thai. It always seems easier on the knuckle. Plus it is hard to do them on your palms in boxing gloves or wraps.
