  1. Is it the company you are now with Josh? Or the old one tryi g to fill your vacancy?
  2. It isnt a Fiskars but I won this splitting axe at the FR Jonses show. Put it to good use on fat oak the other day to make it easier to handball out of the garden and I can say it was excellent. First impressions great, time will tell on durability.
  3. Send the man an email then. Good luck finding someone Mike.
  4. i did a few trees last year. about 25 foot from the track. Network rail just sent a couple of guys with PTS down and schedules some veg management for them up the line. The 2 guys just blew a hooter to let us know of an approaching train. they even asked how I was going to get stuff back to the private land. I said to rig it their answer was knock it this way we have saws in the van... Jobs a goodun' By the sounds of it though yours sounds a bit closer.
  5. Just file it properly, make sure the depth of the cutter is even both sides aswell as the length. Also make sure the depth gages are files correctly. Slight erros in any of the above is accentuated with bigger bars. As for the chainbreak issue, see what the dealer says. I think they would only sell yo a new chain though to fix the banana cuts.
  6. Well I stand corrected I have been after a pair of the 3m lexa glasses. but can only find stockist in clear and not smoked lenses in the UK.
  7. Because they are trying it on mate. A lot of people wouldn't question the increase. You did and they wound their neck in and played the game. Trust did it to me to the tune of nearly 400 quid. Droped the renewal price by approx 400 notes when I told them I had a cheaper quote.
  8. Stihl safety glasses. I have some old Arnette, a pair of Von Zipper and a pair of Dragon Optics. All quality glasses but a bit to expensive. You cant beat the stihls for about 8 quid.
  9. Imagine the uproar on http://www.guttertalk.co.uk Edit: if you click the link you will see that the server has crashed and you cannot get to the site. This is due to the number of posters on an otherwise quiet forum, complaining about gardeners knicking their jobs.
  10. I am sure you'll give it a comprehensive work out whilst demonstrating the handful of cuts during the assessment.
  11. Sky plus mate. Pause function and rewind.
  12. It is a bit different around here. Most companies I graft for pay in one way or another to offloads chip and logs.
  13. Rupe, spoken like a true batchelor with a care free cavalier attitude to life... I agree with you that there is more to life than tree work. However, I have a family and have to go to work to pay my bills. Getting to work late means, jobs run over, which mean I am even later getting back to the yard. I then am late to get my kids from the childminders. Which incures penalties if I get them after 6 pm. Do you or anyone else fancy paying my childcare cost over the next month? On top of this, tempers on the roads are rising and the amount of people acting like a knob because they aren't moving is only adding to things. I have probably seen more bumps and near misses in the last week than I have in the last 10 years. As for the athletes, that goes without saying. I am full of admiration for the training and dedication they have put into to get a place on an Olympic team. The games itself is a great spectacle, it is just the organisation of the people up top that have already left a bad taste in peoples mouths. Saying that though, I will still probably crack one out for the 100m womens hurdles..
  14. Make sure they have 2 chutes Phil. Apparently there is a large rate of failure and they insist on 2 for the chubbies! Just in case...
  15. And you lot dont even live near it! Imagine living near one of the Olympic sites and in order for the rest of the world to arrive and everything go to plan, they change the traffic light patterns. 12 mile tail back for the blackwall tunnel at 7 am the other day, all because of one set of lights on the A2 have been changed and about 5 cars at a time get through. Thankfully I was going the other way. It has absolutely screwed with most peoples working lives/commute. I have not encountered so many idiot drivers on the roads since they changed the light cycles last week. People are just doing stupid things. Today for example. at 6.20 this morning, at a filter traffic lane to turn right towards Beckenham, I was about the 18th car. It took 5 cycles of the lights to get through. In that time at least 3 people left the queue to accelerate to the front and barge their way in or go through the red light. Last example... yesterday working for Mick Stockbridge. I left his home and it took me 35 minutes to get down the A2 to within 3 miles of my house. It took me 35 minutes to do the final 3 miles!!! Rant over. I am seriously thinking of leaving the country till it is over.
  16. Cheers Pete, I thought the rope had to bend in order for the positioner cam to lock. But as I said, I have been wrong before.
  17. I am probably incorrect, but I thought the ART positioner doesn't work with a wire core flipline?
  18. Happy birthday mate.
  19. Not put much up for a while. Here is a little clip of one of the rated fighters in Thailand at the moment. Samingprai Kiatphontip. 20. How do you get four elderly women to simultaneously shout "f..k?" Get a fifth one to shout "bingo!"
  21. Why did you choose the Gransfors Dan? Did you lob them both on the Friday?
  22. I reckon the little fellas are Stihl reps...
  23. Whatever happened to this Mog?
  24. It will be able to lift a large bag, full of cash, to the value of the crane. As soon as you add the VAT though, no go..! The crane just doesn't want to know. :001_tt2:
