  1. Big chunks make big hunks.
  2. Sounds like a jobsworth. For a start there is no such thing as a chainsaw license. Ask him if he has his Multi national haberdashers license? When he asks what it is explain he shouldn't be offering items for sale without one and then call 999.
  3. I think that cut may have been used for a back leaning tree that is being winched. When the top is compromised due to dead you my not be able to get the pull line high enough. I have used that cut or similar (taught by and old school very experienced cutter) you don't need to have the winch line up too high so the back cut comes in below the bottom f the face. The lip stops the winch pulling the tree of the stump and losing it backwards.
  4. Read that article and there are quite a few errors in there. I would take it as a pinch of salt. For eg. They say the Navara is the longest and oldest pickup on the market and the 2.5 engine blows up so that is why they went for the 2.3. So what about in 2010 when the facelift model came out with the new Renault 2.5 engine. Slight modifications to the body and front end, new engine chosen to try and eliminate the problems they had with the earlier model. It also got more HP with the new engine. I am looking to change my Navara at some point and toying with the thought of getting a nice family motor and a van of sorts for working or go for a new pickup?
  5. I don't mind negative rigging. I will do it more often than chogging.
  6. Never did fancy the idea of an elasticated handsaw strop. It would have a tendency to get trapped and I don't fancy being carved up by a silky springing back at you. Saw pod is an option. I just clip the scabbard to my harness and try not to drop the silky.
  7. You obviously didn't have good ones then mate. My 200t's run like a scalded greyhound. Thanks for your advice but I'll stick with what I know.
  8. All the best mate and fingers crossed for a speedy recovery. Take it easy mate and I hear VOSA have just issued a new set of guidelines. Just in time for you to get stuck into!
  9. Nice work mate. That last piece bounced a bit.
  10. I am not humane when it comes to vermin mate. They want a war, they 'kin got one now...! The gloves are off. At the moment I have 5 mouse traps set in the kitchen and 2 poison runs. I do think the poison stuff has worn off though .
  11. Anyone got advice for mice? Got traps set in the kitchen. We read on the web that they don't like the smell of peppermint, so the missus has soaked cotton wool with peppermint oil and left in draws and where ever we see the mouse crap. I bait the traps and even bought new ones as I only ever seem to catch in fresh traps. Hence the smell of death. We see crap in the morning and the next evening I trap the area and they only poo elsewhere. Today I found mouse crap on the peppermint soaked cotton wool - so much for that method the cheeky buggers. Please don't suggest a cat as I hate cats.
  12. It's a hard life rupe having to work in such disgusting spots
  13. Try making things simpler and stop calling hired help, whether ground staff or climber, subbies. They aren't, they are freelance climbers or groundsman.
  14. It all good mate. Just had the kids for 4 days whilst the missus is away. Probably the reason my head frazzled haha. Keep them coming.
  15. Nice tidy job there mate.
  16. Some good work in there but to be honest mate the flashing or over exposing effect does my eyes in. Or I am just tired. Haha. Keep em coming. Cheers
  17. Cheers Mark and Rob. I love turning up to a job blind and working it out on the fly. Luckily I had the camera charged and the sun was out to record it. Pure luck.
  18. KISS. Nicely done Tim.
  19. Thanks mate.
  20. A few of the contractors I wrk for are having exactly the same troubles. One even had a face to face with the head of dept. it really doesn't help when they say they're busy and your trying to run a business.
  21. That's fair enough mate. I train Muay Thai 2-3 times a week and climb 5 or 6 days a week. Carbs make me feel bloated and sluggish. I feel a lot better with less of them in my life. Saying that I am not strictly paleo but try to avoid bread, spuds and have pasta maybe once a week.
  22. Basically you will be very lucky to get through. They are useless and still dealing with enquiries from October last year. The have such a backlog that tree surgeons are getting a bit annoyed, they go back to the customers who then try and get hold of Bromley and then doubles the workloads. That is why they are not answering the phone.
  23. It's all about the looks mate. Many people have endured hardships of cake temptation in an effort to look good! Keep up the good work soldier.
  24. They work well in the tree. Surprisingly tough and pretty hard to open the spring is that tight. I edit it just with the free gopro software mate. Thanks.
  25. Rj'd 2 decent sized London plane trees. I last did the tree 6 years ago. Spec was back to previous. Rich
