  1. Wakehurst place is a great day out for the family. Not been there for a few years and due a visit back soon I think.
  2. It would have probably been easier to explain to the kids that they were eating their 'sweeties' to help them generate electricity. haha.
  3. I know what you mean about the angle. 90% of the time it works fine. I find it is best to try and trick it. Wait till everything has settled, usually a couple of metres from you. Couple of quick pulls and grab it before it floats away.
  4. for a quick retrieve of the rigging line I get the groundy to clip the crab around my climbing line and hold my line taught. They pull the rigging line and up it comes to you. is that what you mean?
  5. I went to Redcar beach for a Lemon top about 3 weeks ago. There was about 1500 ravers on the beach of their tits with hard core techno blaring. I honestly don't see the problem with the things myself, windmills not ravers. It is just a part of sustainable living and is a sign we are trying to do something about the environment.
  6. Thank you. From one end it looked like someone had burned a Thomas the tank style face on the bugger. My kids loved it.
  7. Sorry Mick, I can't help you with that one. But I did see this Moth in the New Forest a couple of weeks ago. Looked just like a silver birch twig. Amazing camophlage.
  8. Not really a scientific method, but with my first one I just tried to set it up so as i was free hanging there seemed to be equal pressure on the back pad and leg loops. I shortened the bridge with a quick over hand knot at one end. The second harness I just copied the setup and then taped all the loose bits down.
  9. Nice work Reg and some great pictures. The area you work has some beautiful sights.
  10. That was actually his wife... He saved the big one for himself.
  11. I think you need to have a chat with him. It sounds like they want all the benefits of having an employee without giving you the benefits of Employed work. Do they insist you have your own public liability as well?
  12. Another.
  13. Rigging a group of sycamores down for treemoose. 6 decent sized and a skinny one maybe 45 foot tall. 3 days on the job and a fair bit of timber to pickup. Today was the second day and one tree left and then take the pole down we have been rigging off.
  14. Meant to say ... He left shortly after it was purchased and they drove...
  15. I know Carl. My mate worked for STS when they had the royal seal. He left shortly after they drove all the senior climbers away and then basically turned the company into what it is today.
  16. Amazing what money can buy. I am not implying the company paid for the seal of approval... But they may have purchased a company in the past that already had the seal.
  17. The missus sorted it all out but I think we had vouchers or something and just used them when booking and the price was reduced. I would drive down to the Bay of Biscay area. San Sebastien and Biaritz and Hossiger. Chilled surf areas with nice beaches and less of the hoity toity types who frequent the other side of the south of France.
  18. i would use the train. done it 4 times now 30 mins and your on the other side. Europe is then your oyster. Steve, do you collect tesco club card points? we redeemed our on th offer for channel crossings. Cost us about 25 quid return iirc.
  19. Petzl Alvio for me with the peltor up rated slim line muffs.
  20. Lowther show is an excellent day out. We use to go nearly every year when i was younger. My dad used to enter the fly casting competitions. My mother nearly got ran over one year by the Duke of Edinburgh in his racing buggy/carridge.
  21. Nice work Tim. Why no SRT though?
  22. Nom nom!
  23. Good work Benn. How long you up in Boston?
  24. Managed to watch it through Prox free. Had to set it though to show i was in the US. Nice vid Tim. Great cutting and editing of the vid. The music wasn't that bad, and the ban was uncalled for IMO.
  25. Awe Tim. Says it has been blocked on my iPhone due to crap music choice. I will try my MacBook.
