  1. Wow... on more than one account.
  2. I have trouble putting my Cougar ropes in the Akimbo. It seems a really tight fit when the bollards are opened up. I will try again next month when we have a dry day. Gotta love the UK weather
  3. Well today in a mature spready Oak tree it was a lot better. Locked up at one point so I had to make an adjustment. 11mm Sterling htp (newish) on a dry day. Rich
  4. I saw that post aswell. Just couldn't be arse commenting again on there.
  5. I tried to get in my truck today, wasn't feeling fully switched on tbh. There were some low hanging branches from the tree I was next to so I stooped my head. As I opens the door as you do with usual force I swung the corner point straight into my forehead. If I hadn't been wearing a beenie I reckon claret would have been everywhere. I wish I had my helmet on then. It bloody hurts now.
  6. Your right Darrin, it looks a good device. That video was by Nick Araya, on a new rope based in sunny and dry California. See where I am coming from now?
  7. It gets locked in approximately this position.
  8. Either of you two had a problem with the device locking up? It happens for me as I tried to fully open the arms and set the Akimbo for installing on the rope.the. Ottom arm keeps getting stuck just short of fully open and then I cannot move it either way. I am assuming it is just tree gunk from trying it on a non sunny, drizzly day.
  9. Glad, it isn't just me being a whinging ****. Actually I am not glad, I am disappointed as I had so much hope for what looked like a great device.
  10. I just spliced the xrings myself. Pretty easy to splice onto Tenex and if you follow the Instructions from the manufacturer then it will be bomber.
  11. For bigger bits I use a bigger rope. In all seriousness, it isn't a basic kit but I have 60m polydine 16mm. Impact block, a few x rings, a couple of swing cheek pulleys, various loop slings and deadeyes for pulleys etc and a Stein fixed bollard. Plus a load of steel crabs to connect bits together.
  12. I wonder how any of the climbers in other parts of the world are finding it. I am sure the dudes in SoCal will be loving it in their dry, arrid environment. I wonder how the ones that went into Northern Europe are holding up and also the others in the U.K. I tried again today on Kernmaster. It was wet from the other day but it didn't work. I have to close the top arm completely and then hope it releases. TBH it is hard enough just to get the device to release. I then slapped the bollards to fully open on the top and one from largest at the bottom. Tried it on a shorter but if Cougar blue as I was just taking epis off and raising the canopy. It didn't work too well in single line mode so I tried it doubled. It worked but was pretty frustrating as it wouldn't release very well. No problems on grabbing, releasing seems to be the problem. After 3 trees I put it back in my bag (again) and finished the other 9 on a hitch. Jaime, please don't take this the wrong way if you read it. It is a great looking device and well made, I just feel it needs some amount of further research and development for guys who may climb in anything less than perfect conditions. Edit: I must add as well, and tried to get a vid of it but the problem stopped. After I have done a climb and the Akimbo has been in the kit bag. Twice it has happened now, the bottom arm locks in position and stops the device being opened. No idea what is locking it up. At first I thought I had somehow bent the device. That free'd up after washing the Akimbo. Today it was locked up and I grabbed my mobile to try and film it to show what I mean and just as we started recording g the bloody thing free'd itself up. Any thoughts on that Jaime or have you had anyone else mention the problem? Cheers.
  13. That's the time... See you then.
  14. As he said ^^^. It is a fascinating subject to me. Many lives have been changed through a simple (prohibited) plant. But that discussion is for another time.
  15. A good friend of mine has AS. She can't eat anything red. Red meat, red tomatoes ds even red wine makes her condition deteriorate. Have you tried CBD or THC oil to help with the Crohns and AS? Stefan, Best of luck with your lifestyle change. It takes commitment but you are certainly a determined man. I expect to see you shredded and svelt at an arb show this year. Keep up the good work soldier.
  16. It would be very cynical of me to agree Matty. Just call me a cynic.
  17. Don't get me wrong, it is a good device and when it works, it works well. I have got it to work on htp. A rope I haven't had the joy of getting the RR or the BDB to work on. I just can't get it to work on my Cougar ropes (blue and orange) or my Kernmaster yet. Then add a bit of presipitation into the mix and your not going anywhere fast. I guess I need more time to tinker, but unfortunately I don't get paid for tinkering.
  18. It is pretty much unusable on wet or dirty rope for me. I don't have the time to piss about with it mid climb. Hence the reason I have grabbed other devices when work needs to be done. Rich
  19. Haven't climbed on mine for about a week. Too fiddly and the slightest bit of moisture you have trouble using it.
  20. No he means he is allowed to work up to 180 days in another country and still pay tax to the country he is registered. Any more than the 180 days, tax is required to pay in the country where you are working.
  21. That peal and steal method has been used for years. When I was at 6th form college one of the lads had his car broken into that way. That was about 25 years ago.
  22. Good work soldiers! Steve and Joe RJ'tastic!
  23. Good work John. Was there much damage to the drive or is it sweetener?
  24. Handy!
