  1. I got mine from treekit. I am sure they weren't 50 quid, maybe 40 odd but I did buy quite a few bits at the same time.
  2. Glad to hear they aren't twisted mate.
  3. Really joe? I had a xl ring given, bought two beast rings and the tenex to splice it and it came to a fraction of the cost. Mind you I have the impact block which is pretty expensive. As I said I use mine as and when necessary. My only grip is I have a few other slings with the xl rings. The throat on the splice of my 16mm polydine rigging line won't go through the rings. Sweet on the beast rings but for the xl's I have to use a non spliced eye on a narrower diameter rope. I usually rig with a krab in that situation for speed but sometimes it is easier to just grab a small swing cheek puppy for a redirect and save faffing with the knots.
  4. Everyone has different opinions, if we all thought the same it would be a pretty boring place. I wouldnt bother getting your knickers in a twist over it.
  5. The tune was by dj bc. Free download at djbc.net
  6. A picture is of the beast whoopie. I have a spare ring that can be put in the klenheist and then cinches down the bear ring into the other end of the whoopie for added bend radius.
  7. Thank you Darrin.
  8. Yes it is a good combination but dont think the CE version of Cougar Blue is the same as the original. A completely different rope, the only thing the same is the colour and the name.
  9. I use both as and when needed. I spliced up the beast whoopie Paul mentioned earlier. I use it in the latter part of this vid for blocking the stem down.
  10. Good work Tim. I enjoyed the cutting and filming.
  11. Have you spoken to whoever you bought it off?
  12. It that the new CE Marked Cougar (Not like the old) Blue? The piece that I tried bunched up the cover like that after two climbs
  13. To high clip I have a crappy old petzl krab in the metal eye aswell as the tool strip. The krab generally sits upright and is easy to clip and unclip one handed.
  14. Haha. No worries, I got your text mate. I'll send it out in the next day or so.
  15. When did you realise Matty it was back to front ... haha!
  16. Tragic event. RIP.
  17. How was it to climb on though after it milked?
  18. What colour Stirling do people have? Mine is the red htp in 11mm.
  19. Matty. Mine hasn't milked either. The day we got them and I tried to set mine up on Cougar, Ben had his new htp in the tree. The first time down the rope the Akimbo almost made a bow wave out of the cover. Mine hasn't done anything like that.
  20. I had a better result today. I changed the spring at the weekend for the weakest version Jaime sent out. Decided to try it on cougar Orange as it was very dry and sunny. It worked really well. I will get it into a bigger tree on the cougars next time but IMO the weaker spring allowed the top cam to release a wee bit easier. It still wasn't as nice as the Htp but was on the way alright.
  21. No idea what your on about. I am guessing a disagreement to do with politics. That's why it isnt a good idea to discuss politics or religion on the internet.
  22. Do not fell into the road. Dead elm is heavy and will probably punch through the surface. Plus it will shatter and make your clear up area larger than need be... let alone flying pieces doing damage. Lastly, I love felling trees, but surely there are many more professional ways to get the job done. Looking at the area there will be plenty of potential customers passing... what would you prefer them to say... "Look at how professional they were with that crane and a tree that size done by 2pm." "Look at how professional they were with that guy cutting all them pieces attached to ropes. No damage and less disruptive to everyone." "Look at how professional they were with that bloke in the basket cutting it into small pieces." "Check out the lumberjack. He was great, he missed all the targets and then spend the rest of the day clearing up the mess and patching the road up. We know it took all day because we were stuck in the bloody traffic the chaos caused!" I know which one I would want myself and company name associated with. Sell yourself on skills, efficiency whilst all the time being safe.
  23. I use it when needed. Does what it says on the tin.
  24. Same as Josh for me. Bought new, no smoke noticed and ten to allow it to warm up a bit in the morning. Where as my Navara, that truck smoked more than Bob Marley!!
  25. Idling when warm or cold start mate? Not really noticed much smoke from mine. 65 plate with 12000 miles. Have you had it serviced at the correct intervals?
