  1. I did and it did not mention certs, it mentioned the working at hight regs, which I believe will state the need for a means of rescuing someone who is working at hight, not a specific cert.
  2. They don't want any payment till its in his yard, how can it be a scam???????????

    46 Today!

    Happy birthday Pete!!
  4. When I wanted to become an "Approved contractor" for one of our LA's I sent in all the relevant paper work. I got a call from them saying they were a little concerned that my certs were over 10 years old. I said "If your wanting someone new to the job, with little experience I'm not the man for you" They saw my point and I am now on their list and do a most of the work they put out to tender.
  5. Can you please give one example of this actually happening?? I personally think that not only would you need not have a current MOT cert, BUT also the accident would need to be attributable to a defect in the vehicle that would have been found at MOT. I could be wrong, but I really wish if people are going to give us expert information that they would back it up with some evidence, not just hearsay. Also by not have an MOT you are committing an offense which would lead to prosecution. I would be very interest to hear of any one being found working with a cert being prosecuted.
  6. The point I was making, is that the UK Birch is costing even less per cube than you stated, making the imported stuff even more of a none starter. Timber is becoming more scares, but there is a limit to what people will pay, I reckon coal would cost less than this stuff once its been converted and delivered.
  7. I pretty sure you will get well over 1 cubic metre of Birch too the tonne, making the price per cube less than the price per tonne.
  8. Flask of Kenco coffee and 1.5L of Vimto, both prepare by my wife.
  9. You don't need to change the blades, just sharpen them, it will make a HUGE difference.
  10. Less dangerous than riding a motorcycle in traffic, IMO.
  11. You say it was split in half with just wedges, but in the picture its clear that the left side has been cut with a saw.

IME if you use it right it will make you far more than it costs, but you need to make sure your charging accordingly.

With regard too maintenance costs, my mog costs me around £5K on a good year and my worst year it cost me £25K.
  15. Does this really need teaching??? Is cross cutting so technical??? I must be some sort of genius, because I just taught myself, its not rocket science. The thing that strikes me it the fact that the lad asked for no help, after being around cutters for a year to think cutting like that is normal or acceptable is what would really worry me. If the chain was part of the problem why did he not stop and sort it or get someone else to sort it??.
  16. You are mistaken, its so good both the presenters were poached at great expense by ITV, but the show they now present is a flop, because its the show thats good not the presenters You people from Cornwall find most normal people hard to understand
  17. Do you mean he can't stop as fast as the others???
  18. Indeed I was thinking I might ring Mrs miggins and ask if she would mind paying me for not taking down her tree, because its not my fault the snow stopped me
  19. Here we go again:001_rolleyes: please give ONE example. I have made claims on my insurance and never been asked for tickets. People are always slagging off insurance Co's and saying they never payout, but I don't know of anyone this has happened too. As for tickets, IME the only people who get excited about them are those who make good money out of selling people the training and those who have paid out good money to get them.
  20. If a Co is not working its not generating income, so its very difficult pay wages when there is no income. I think the best option may be to make up the time once the snow has gone, by working weekends at normal pay.
