  7. Many years ago I was told the average career length of a tree surgeon after training was 18 months, don't know how true it is, but I do know a lot of lads that have left our game and are doing other things.
  8. I'll work Sunday for a good client, but it needs to pay at least enough to cover two days off in the week.
  9. Seeing which part of the tree have died (from causes other than the ring barking) is important when dismantling. I would sooner work the tree as it is and have a clear picture of whats going on.
  10. Not really, if there were none VAT registered fuel stations, that sold fuel without VAT, people would be cueing round the block to go there.

  13. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Falling is all about how you land, I know lads who have fallen 70' landing on the woodland floor and walked away. But last week I was talking to a guy in a wheelchair who had fallen 12' (a roofer taking down a dead tree for a mate for the fire wood) his feet slipped off the branch and he landed on his side, on uneven ground and broke his back. He said 4 other guys at the rehabilitation center had similar injury's from tree work.
  14. I agree that the market will shrink this year, but also price is becoming even more important. To be honest I think a good word of mouth recommendation beats any scheme membership.

  16. I get these from reading posts by people slagging off other peoples products in an effort to push their own
  17. Ruffle 500,000 BTU's/150KW, used many, many tonnes so far.
  18. The fact that there are no others in your area makes it less worth while, as being AAAC will add too your costs and a customer cannot get three quotes from three AAAC contractors. Its a "chicken and egg situation" unfortunately.
  19. I have had dozens of lads do trial days over the years and I have always payed them for the day. But then I don't want charity and always pay my way.
