  1. Yes, BUT you cannot claim back the VAT on every day business expenses, fuel, repairs and maintenance, etc, you can claim back the VAT on capital purchases of over £2K and your turnover must be under £150K I think. I'm on the flat rate scheme, it works out for me, but you need to do your sums and see if it would work out OK for you.
  2. Go down to the reply box, click on "Go Advanced", now click on the little paper clip. You then click on one of the "Browse" buttons, it will take you into your computer, double click on the pic you want, add as many picks as you like (up too 5) then click "Upload".
  3. Very common, does no harm. Is it sphagnum moss????
  4. I think you may get more replies if this was posted in the landscape forum.
  5. NO!! Never!!!! They are all stealing MY work!!!!! I put sugar in their fuel tanks and broken bottles behind and in front of their tyres!!!
  6. "Hell hath no fury like I contractor spurned". Time to forget about it and move on, me thinks.
  7. No both trees, one domestic using 130 landy and 6" chipper, one commercial using mog.
  8. Yes, but you need separate equipment/vehicles for each Co. You could cross hire your gear to your self, but it starts to get a bit of a gray area and you could end up in bother. I ran two Co's (with separate gear) for about 8 years, but the cost of two lots of book keeping and extra gear made it a PITA and not that profitable, so my VAT registered Ltd Co bought out my sole trader Co.
  9. Fantastic!!!!!! You are one of the last of a dieing breed, me and Alex Price were only discussing today, how few youngsters today take an interest in making or fixing things, most just want sit and look at a screen of some sort or another.
  10. John you must really, really like starting threads.
  11. It was put up when I was getting into firewood, but then I decided retailing firwood was not for me, so its now just used for storage and some where for my dad to spit logs for his own fires.
  12. The amount of water the grass around my way gets, is one of the main problems with this country.
  13. Yes, I had mine recovered last year, but only because we had ripped two big holes in it, other than the holes it was in good shape. The guy who recover mine said I should have rung him as soon as I had ripped it and he would have come and repaired it.

I had one old guy the other day ask if we would need electric, I told him we would be coming with the mog and trailer, he says "yes I know, I've seen you working"
  15. Me too!!!!! Being old sucks!!!
  16. I got mine from First Tunnels, they supplied and erected mine, they where the cheapest at the time (7 years ago)
  17. OK, made up of individual even number And yes 361 is pro and thats why I said it seems to no longer apples
  18. Personally I think you did a great job!!! As some have said there are many things you could have done better/differently, such as taking out the top first, cutting smaller and using more gob cuts to reduce the affect of limbs breaking free, but as you quite rightly state, you got the job done so you method worked just fine, as the lady in the Oak vid put it "High five!!" too you Doug!!! As for the sound of cracking at the base of the tree (I was not there so this is only my own tin pot theory) I think it could well have been the sound of the branches you had removed and were pilled up, settling as they do this small branches and twigs snap making quite loud cracking noises, I could be wrong. Many years ago I used to dismantle dead Elms for a mate of mine, he started some of the trees himself, but came down because he "could hear them cracking" when I then climbed them I heard nothing, the mind is a powerful thing and can convince you that there is a sound or make the sound appear to be coming form a different source. Really enjoying the vids, please keep them coming!!!!
  19. I've heard it all know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Just tell the tax man and start paying your NIC.
  21. Often people who hire in a chipper stack brash from a few days work, so you may well find you are chipping all day.
  22. Great vid!!!!, her commentary is priceless!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. No,no,no!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not mash, you just want to dice the potatoes, carrots and corned beer, add beef stock (enough to cover the veg and meat) and finely copped onions, season as required, boil until the the potatoes are cooked
