  1. Peoples circumstances vary vastly, I have a large house and a wife and four children to support, my wife does not have a job that brings in an income other than the business. I would not be able to compete with some one would lives with their parents or has a wife with a well paid job. You need to do your market research and find out who you would be competing with and what the going rate is, you can then decide if there is any chance of there being any profit in it for you.
  2. How did it go??????????????????????????
  3. But surely if he feels the tree is safe to climb and he has the skill to safely climb it, why waste profit on a MEWP??? I agree that if only those who have posted pic's or vid's are free to pass comment it would get very quiet in here. I always enjoy looking at pic's and vid's and very much appreciate those who post
  4. It always used to be the even numbers were pro saws and the odd numbers were occasional user saws. But its not the same these days.
  5. I would lift it off with my Palfinger.
  6. Why????????????????????????????????????
  7. Its my understanding that thick ivy should not just be stripped, as this can cause the tree to suffer "scorch" from the sun. Its better to sever the ivy at the base of the tree and be allowed to die and defoliate, once its dead and the tree has had a summer of more sun, the woody parts of the ivy can then be stripped.
  8. Works fine round here, its given me a fair bit of work.
  9. No its not a set hight, as Rupe says its a calculation dependent on how far the hedge is from the objectors house.
  10. It already been sold.
  11. Ducker are basically the same machine (most parts are identical) and they make front mount.
  12. If they want one I will do them one, the 3 I did last year were all commercial clients. Most clients that I've worked before are happy to just have shake hands. I get very, very few problems with people arguing about the price after the jobs done, I've had 1 in 15 years of trading. I just trust people and they seem to live up too that trust.
  13. TBH Dean, I'm pretty shocked by the number of people on here who have cut themselves.
  14. Last year I think I did 3 written quotes and 2 of those were emailed. All my other quotes were verbals, I hate paper work.
  15. Also you can just send them a bill for your time, then take them to SCC for none payment
  16. I would not worry about it, as Rupe says the buck stops with the Boss not you. I had a similar situation many years ago, I think the LA like to throw their weight around and try to scare people. In my case it turned out to be their error not mine (not that they would admit that) I asked them to let me know as soon as they had decided what they were doing, but they didn't I had to ring them
  17. Is it a business line?????? If it is, I think they have to get you back on within 24 hours. When my was cut off, I just rang them and they redirected my land line calls to my mobile.
  18. If your SE you can claim all expenses that are genuinely incurred in order to do your work.
  19. My spit tail arrived today, many thanks to Justine, Steve and every one else involved
