  3. For me its much the same as many other. Four happy healthy offspring who make me very proud all the time. A twenty year marriage, I was 20 and my wife was 18, many scoffed and said it would not last. And also getting out of the Jehovah's Witnesses at the age of 30, saving my children from the isolation and deception that I was born into.
  4. I know that feeling soooooooo well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Wood turners must be the same all over the country, as Rupe describes the one's I've met perfectly .
  7. If you mean Hawthorn will burn green, then yes it will, (as will some other timbers) but it still tars up your chimney.
  8. Green Elm is hard to split and hard to dry. Dead Elm is great fire wood if left standing till the bark falls off, but it needs splitting with an hydraulic splitter really. The old poem about fire wood said "Elm wood burns like church yard mold, even the very flames are cold" Before DED Elm was never rated as fire wood. If I was offered that wood for nothing, I would not really want it.
  9. Thats great news!!! The nesting season must be over and we can crack on without concern!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Nearly 20 years ago I had one of these, I never washed it and only rode it when absolutely necessary
  11. If you go into the town hall they have to tell you there and then or show you the map, these documents are "within the public domain" or some such term and you have a right to see them I believe.
  12. Many years ago I used to do rail clearance, I used to take my rope up with me in a bag. I did this as I had a real fear of a train taking the tail of my rope, snapping the top out of my tree and dragging me down the track.
  13. Get down there real early one morning while no ones around and fell it, at least then it will be safe!!!
  14. They probably have a 200% mark up, but that does not mean 200% profit, they (like us) have countless overheads. I was in retail for many years, IMO its way harder to make money in retail that what I do now.
