The main thing to remember about wood fuel is that its releasing carbon from a few 100 years ago at most, fossil fuel is releasing carbon from 1000,000's of years ago (when the planet may not have been habitable by man) so with timber its short cycle carbon release which is sustainable.

If the tree is being cut down any way its is actually carbon negative, because if you landfill the timber it will release just as much carbon as burning it, if you burn it for heat the carbon you would have released burning coal/gas will not be released, meaning a net reduction in carbon

People keep saying groundies are "worth their weight in gold", well according to this site Buy 1 Kilogram fine gold bars from BullionByPost UK gold is over £30,000 per KG so your average groundie is worth £2400,000 I disagree, I'll stick to £65 a day thanks The problem is there are 1000's of people wanting into tree work, so their bargaining power is very limited. -
IME army surplus bags are the best, the nylon bags from arb suppliers have always been a massive disappointment.
