Indeed, but will she also point out the hypocrisy of their teachings? Presumably her views were not shared by the management and governors of the school.

Says she is a “pastoral assistant”, how would a gay or lesbian child feel about approaching her for guidance and what kind of guidance would she give? As for the muslins, as far as i’m aware none of them worked at the school, so could not be sacked.

People are very short sighted and pretty stupid. Netting trees and hedges is pretty sensible really. They are going to be removed anyway. Far better than rushing to fell, leaving the brash on the ground to be chipped later, only for the birds to then nest in the piles of brash. Its rather like the people who protest about fracking, while still happy to drive their cars and heat their homes with gas.

I have a Black birds nest in the Ivy by my back door, its at eye level, there are three chicks. Each time I leave the house by the back door I "disturb" them, when I'm in my courtyard by the back door I "disturb" them. Am I committing a criminal offence? They nested there last year they nested there, but at some point the eggs all disappeared, no idea what happened to them? Squirrels? Crows? Magpies?

Goes back before Arb was really invented. Back in the day the council lads would cut trees in the winter, no leaves, bird not nesting, plus summer cutting was believed to be bad for the trees. The same guys cut grass through the summer.

Where were you getting the trees? Maybe, just maybe, the other Co buys 100's of trees and get very good rates, maybe they grow their own, etc, etc.

Ok, just googled it. Apparently it was the 21st of March (so I've not gone senile, phew) Apparently in the Vernel Equinox only fell on the 21st 36 times out of the last 100 years. Does it really matter, why do they have to change everything?

I always thought 21st of March was the "First day of spring". But yesterday on the radio they claimed its the 20th?

I don't think this is proper "ripple" as TTownsend said above, its most probably reaction wood, grown due to wind damage. Maybe this tree grew to fast, searching for light, so when the wind came it was to thin. All the ripped trees I've encountered show no external sign of ripple. You have to cut a chunk of bark off to check for ripple and its much smaller, tighter ripple, also known as "fiddle back".

Indeed, the fact most choose not to have toilets inside their vans, does tend to lead to some rather unpleasant leaving presents.

I would say its pretty likely that you can, however you will NEED to first get written consent from the council. To get this you will need to make a formal application to the council, this can be done on line or by post, using the correct form. Once the work has been agreed and you have written consent from the council, the work needs to be carried out in accordance with good arboricultural practice and to British standard.

Actually I think the majority don’t. Atheism isn’t a “thing” like religion, it’s just a lack of any belief in such things. So is not much to “indoctrinate” I’ve told all my children I have no issues if the have a god shaped hole they feel they need to fill. Not really met any evangelical atheists, i’m sure they exist, but are pretty rare.
