  1. It’s context, we were talking about money and tax, so ok ‘successful’ in financial terms. There obviously much more important things in life. The people you know Sound really unhappy. I know really unhappy people too, but to be honest most of them are not very well off. They are also stressed etc. I also know some very wealthy people, who are the happiest, most family originated people you could meet.
  2. I’m sure they do tell you all the time, I bet it’s just after you have come down from one of the millions of 140ft trees you’ve climbed and just before you hear a voice saying wakey wakey Mark your breakfast is ready ?
  3. So what? What if he"s paying millions in tax? Why does the "percentage" matter? This is the politics of envy. Rich people often don't even use the services their taxes pay for, they tend to privately educate their children, have private health care, etc, etc. Sure the rich should pay their fair share, but tax should not be about punishing the successful, just to make those who have failed feel better, Imo.
  4. I think the problem is that those of us that don't suffer find it pretty much impossible to really understand conditions such as depression. I get down from time to time, I worry quite a bit, but I just think whatever my worry is through to worse case scenario and plan what I would do, count my blessings and I'm fine. But depression is not like that, I guess many of us will never know how it actually feels, we are the lucky ones.
  5. It certainly real, the biggest cause of death in men under 45 is themselves. Women attempt suicide more often then men, but men tend to success
  6. In your first paragraph you criticise those who suggest others should man up and get on, in your second paragraph you suggest immigrants should pretty much man up and get on.................................
  7. Oh the irony of those two contradictory paragraphs ???
  8. Woman on the tv this morning, claims her and her neighbours have PTSD caused by there homes being flooded, like three feet of water flooded. We live in the time of the "victim". People don't just get on with stuff, they wallow in self pity and expect the state to help them get over every one of life problems.
  9. Me, bought my 66 new in 1999, only ever had 25" bar on it, must have bought 6 0r7 bars in that time. 8 pin sprocket, cutting with it is a joy! can sharpen the chain in around 5minuets. I very rarely cut wood over 50", so why go bigger? I have an 88 with 48", but it mostly stays home.
  10. Pretty sure they arrange them to collect light.
  11. I know which I'd prefer. (with an 8pin)
  12. Cutting speed is not simply down to the speed of the saw, what about sprocket size ?

    The BIG C .

Sorry to read this stubby, wishing all the very best mate.
  14. As above, they lack dormant buds, so only grow from foliage. You need to leave enough greenery.
  15. Looks like a lapsed pollard, they have just failed to take it back hard enough.
  16. You grow your own food blah, blah etc...........................................kind of begs the question.......................why you were at Tesco 4 times ?
  17. Cut off at ground level and then stump grind to required depth. Cut into lengths, makes excellent gate posts.
  18. While I take your point Mark and he absolutely right to walk away if he was not happy. But many trees “don’t feel right” as you put it. I’ve done loads of trees that felt bloody awful and scared me big time, but I have always reasoned my way through the fear. I’ve never had one fail. The tree in question looks pretty healthy and in no risk of failure. The winching would also suggest the same.
  19. I think the guy on the digger is a nutter, but he's done us all a favour. The next time a Co we've subbed to is thinking about knocking us back on a payment, they may just think twice. Its like when a house holder kills a bugler, it must make so of the other scum think twice.
  20. If feel sorry for our youngsters these days, they are exposed to far more than we ever were, social media etc. Life is just so much more complex. I think most of the them worry quite lot.
