  1. Pretty sure he was referring to the gob, not the hinge, but I've never heard that term for either. I wonder what the cost of his treatment was? and how much he saved by not getting a pro in to fell the trees?
  2. I'm still not buying it. I reckon there must have been something wrong with the cuts. I've wedged over plenty of trees, normally with steel wedges, I've had them go so solid that it feels like your hitting concrete!! and the smack is ringing out for miles, never had a hinge fail. If you cut correctly, the wedge may not get it over, but the tree will just sit tight till a line is thrown up, IME.
  3. Still no idea what you talking about, how on earth can hitting wedges "too hard" or "too fast" possible "snap the trunk off the hinge" ???
  4. Can't comment on the motives of the person you are addressing, but IME those who take on such positions are busy bodies who want to feel important.
  5. I'm working class, but my wife and younger children are middle class. My ambition is to have enough money to enjoy the same lifestyle as my wife and children.
  6. Much of the article is about buying locally, supporting the local economy etc, yet its was produced at the request of a US company, who's equipment appear to be the major assets the Co has purchased. Irony?
  7. Apparently Khan is all for free speak. Wonder how he would feel about a blimp of Allah?
  8. Can't believe no one had and air riffle or at least a slingshot, make me kind of ashamed to be British.
  9. Poplar is not a soft wood.
  10. Can't relate to that at all, in fact I probable feel the opposite way.
  11. Way I heard it from the coach who was interviewed on the radio, the coach with them is the assistant coach and a really nice guy. The coach reckoned the boys would have convinced the assistant coach that they always went so far in and it was safe, the assistant was unfamiliar with the caves did not realise the risks.
  12. Looks like a new fence, has there been much development/land disturbance near the tree?
  13. Very true, before winter I intend to invest in a load of tarps and sheet up as much of the timber I can in my yard. I really don't want to loose all the gains this weather is creating!
  14. Problem is you go £480, they will just go £460 and there begins the race to the bottom.
  15. Pretty sure thats not 5 tonne.
  16. Or are the days of the 6'2" bobby who would bravely stand toe to toe with anyone are a thing of the past?
  17. I don't know a great deal about this, but from what I've seen, it appears his daughter is a air head who spouts crap about stuff she has little or no understanding of and in a effort to try and make her appear a little less stupid he tries to imply no one understands Brexit or its implications, whilst using profanities, I presume in an effort to gain support from "his sort". The guy appears to be pretty dim, which probably explains his offsprings limited intellect.
  18. I think the lack of police action is the biggest bug bare most people have. Why is one group given so much slack, when others who appear to follow the rules are jumped on double quick?
