  1. I had a subbie groundy who had only done a few days for me. He climbed over a 4ft high fence to get some branches, but instead of just throwing his leg over and straddling the fence, he stud on top of the fence, as he jumped off the bottom of his pants got caught, causing him to fall forward, breaking his leg. Months after the incident I go a No Win No Fee claim through from him. He was not told to climb over the fence. My insurance dealt with it ( I had EL ), in the end it was decided it was 60% my fault and 40% his, they said I had not provided a ladder or fence climbing training:confused1: I went back and forth over the fence dozens of times without issue.
  2. If you burn Willow,Pop,processor waste etc, for the kiln, timber that is generally not wanted and if left to rot will release just the same amount of carbon, there is no increase in carbon. Also I recon there is a fair argument that more carbon may be released from the burning excess damp logs to compensate for their dampness, than would be from the kiln boiler
  3. I've burned logs all my life, my father was burning logs long before me and still does. We were both shocked by how much better my kiln dried logs burn compared to any seasoned logs we have ever burnt. You can say what you like about seasoned V kilned, I know which I prefer.
  4. You don't actually have a hinge at all there, it looks to be pretty much just a step cut, you're lucky it went any where near where you wanted. It could have gone where ever it wanted Did you even cut a gob?
  5. Yes a good accountant costs nothing, they save you far more than their bill, ime
  6. 90% of the working population could say the exactly same thing, they just don't bleat on about it like farmers do and generally live in much less desirable areas :001_rolleyes:
  7. How do you come up with that figure???? I reckon you need between £80K to £100K of turnover per two man team.
  8. As above, much better seasoned. Some woods will burn (poorly) green, Ash, Hawthorn, etc. But they burn much better dry.
  9. I just hope it's not as bad as last year, this time last year it started raining and did not stop until April. I've worked outside for 25 years and cannot remember such a long wet winter, very mild and very wet. I would much prefer months of -10.
  10. Very much depends what's under the grass, if the ground is soft you will just end up with a mess, imo. This stuff is ideal for preventing the grass from being destroyed between the wheels and hard ground.
  11. I'm pretty sure that even if you found a crane and base light enough, a landy will be too light a base vehicle to get a stable lift of that weight at that distance, so you will never get it LOLER'd.
  12. Cheers for the kind words, yes we climbers are a pretty special bunch  :001_cool:
  13. How mature are they? They may be regen that have not reached a size where they become infected.
  14. Result, although you have not got "permission" as they have stated its not needed.
  15. Head and shoulders above TW, IMO. Their reputation is very well deserved, IMO, fantastic chippers.
  16. Its the age old problem, the best people for the job would not want it. Just as those with a desire to do it should be excluded.
  17. Thats her safe till 2020 then
