  1. My fresh stuff is expensive then. £8 for a grain bucket and 60 quid for a Tipping trailer.
  2. Well then it probably is then. Defiantly not a Larch or a Dawn Redwood there are two types of swamp cypress though.
  3. 560 and 576xp You'd then have a 50cc 60cc 70cc and a 90cc class saw. Two of which would be orange. I'd have a 576 over a 461 just as i've used huskys more and have a wider selection of spares. The 461 is good though.
  4. Did it have foliage on it?
  5. Very sharp debarking spade and a very sharp knife. Hard to tell but i dont think it is swamp cypress.
  6. The worst ones are where you fell towards the machine and lay it up the side. If you miss you hit the engine:thumbdown:
  7. I like the mini felling bar. The 560 seems to work very well with that 20" bar.
  8. How much are you looking to spend on a tractor? If you want to haul timber/wood chip there will be fuel and maybe even operators license issues. A decent 130hp tractor will be about 35-50k second hand and before you can do anything with it you need implements. Big chipper to make the most of it would be 10-30k, forwarding trailer 20-50k grain trailer 6-8k. Normally have 200l ish tanks so £270 to fill it up if you need to use white £130ish on red.
  9. If you want to do commercial side arm flailing you will need a 130hp tractor plus and an expensive side arm flail. Decorum Have their own fleet of Kobotas that do most of the stuff they own around there. Couple of farmers round hemel way do side arm stuff on the side.
  10. A few years ago now.. There is a Shell garage near me that is very popular with tree surgeons mainly because its on the way to everywhere. It killed one of my saw 346xpg took it to the dealers where there were 10 saws with the same problem. Turns out fuel had all came from the same station. Dealer said it was too much ethonol in the fuel.
  11. Been thinking this a lot lately. Amazingly two tree surgeons have started up in my road recently.
  12. The forum seems very very slow for me. Other site run fine this one just takes ages to load the page. Tried clearing cache but still slow. Any ideas?
  13. Thats why we have Tigercats:thumbup1: True though there will always be work for good cutters. Mainly were the machines can't go.
  14. It should run off the winches own self sealed hydraulics system.
  15. My 550 has gone in with what i fear maybe the same issue. Fuel came from BP too think there was a bad batch.
  16. Clark Forest use to sell those things. I wanted one last year and droped them an email but they didn't have any. I used them in Finland and they were super.
  17. I've seen that it lives in the machine grave yard at the back of JD formally Timberjack in Tampere Finland.
  18. Got 100m on the drum and by the time you have 40m out power out is a god send. Especially if you put some revs on the tractor. Do you know how the remote throttle works. I have a + - button on the remote and i've always assumed it was for tractor throttle but no idea how to connect it. Guess it needs a servo on the throttle linkage?
  19. EH is the way forward. The remote has about 4' of cable on it. You have to pump out enough cable then drag it out and walk back to the winch to drag the stuff in. For just over a grand you can have a wireless radio remote which communicates with a box in the cab. You can that way flick a button to free spool and walk the cable out. Then attach everything stand out the way and winch in. I have the powered feed assist. Basically it is a hydraulic motor that drives 4 wheels that pushes out the cable so you just have to move it rather than drag it off the drum. Also pumps it back in so you get a nicer lay on the drum.
  20. Take the butress off in the direction of fell then put the face in. That way you can see what its like inside and make the decision what other butresses if any to take off. If its leaning to one side or the other leave those on. Place a bit of 3" material close to the butt in the direction of fell to keep the butt of the deck. The dress the butresses of the stem to present.
  21. I have a 2013 550 xpg which has replaced my 346xpg. Both sporting 13" sugi bars. I must admit i prefer the light ones. Best saw i've ever had. Power of a 357 but in the body of a 346. With a 13" bar with the rev boost its a killer. Unfortunately it's in the shop at the moment as it's not working. Up until this problem it's been flawless.
  22. I do 25 miles each way. Don't often go more than 60 miles away from home. Although if the money is right and some decent accommodation can be found i'd go anywhere for some good jobs.
  23. I got a Clarks 15l spill kit in the truck. I also got a box of spill mats that was about 30 quid. Just put the fuel can on one in SSSIs and stuff. Cat litter works very well for soaking up bigger spills on the cheap.
  24. Standing volume?
